So Carter and Alford is Mario’s last chance on the frontlines it seems - I’m sure OSU is going to save it but Mario needs to get this **** done

As the NIL and transfer portal come to the forefront, I want us to be more picky on HS recruiting. Throw bags at kids who legitimately can be expected to get snaps as a freshman and be a starter no later than sophomore year for all positions except OT//DT/NT and QB. Those positions you throw extra darts at and hope the ROI works out in the end.

Fill holes with the portal, but I think we may need to modernize/revolutionize that area so we can be extremely specific and targeted in our approach. I don’t like the “we’re monitoring to see if *** will jump in”. That’s reactive and screams “we are waiting to see if the pretty girl notices us first” vibes.

Has that been mentioned about Horton or is that what you assume would happen? That would suck...

Did you see our WR rotation toward the end of the year. That "talent" needs to show out. Outside of Horton, these are unproven players. We had a mostly- 3 WR rotation by season's end (X, George, Horton) - Brown had 5 snaps against Syracuse. None of the young players did outside of RayRay on returns.

Fletcher and Lyle at RB is fine. Allen adds if he's here. I still think we need a Martinez replacement.

Interior OL was not as good this year. Carpenter, in the run game, I thought was pretty good. Guard play wasn't great as the year went on. Bell needs to step up at LT, need to find a LG. I think Rodriguez can start at C here (supposedly the plan, but he'll start somewhere next year if not here)

QB is a big question mark until we get our portal guy. The room right now is not good.

Offense has talent, sure...but also, tons of question marks currently.
