I think we're being a bit harsh on Mario, and I've been one of his biggest critics since Day 1. He is an awful game day coach (tho he's gotten better). I question the toughness of his teams (soft as baby **** and rife with boneheaded penalties). And he can't win **** in November.
I'm not saying he is off the hook for these losses, but he has absolutely been an upgrade over Manny Diaz. There's no comparison there.
He has improved record wise each year and been quick to address the previous years deficiencies.
These monsters aren't built overnight. It took Harbaugh almost a decade to deliver, and he had his salary cut and everything before he got to that point.
I know we all want a quick return to glory, but that was never in the cards.
Make no mistake, this year was a COLOSSAL waste of an opportunity. No way to sugar coat that. And we should be angry af.
But we need to be realistic, too. We're ahead of schedule.
1. Get a new DC
2. Hit that portal HARD to revamp the defense
3. Secure the best available QB (translation: tamper)
Next year's schedule is VERY manageable.
