Canes at 6 in latest playoff ranking

Comparing this to the NFL is a total non-starter. The schedules in the NFL are roughly equal. Saying that 8-3 Ole Miss is already out, but 9-2 Liberty still has a shot just shows a lack of understanding of the different tiers in college football.

In 2018, there were only ten (10) ranked teams with 0-1-2 losses. So your playoff bracket would have extended to unranked teams while telling LSU that you can't lose to three top 20 teams.
Rewarding teams for winning Championships should be the goal here. Even if they are from a different tier. It would not happen all the time as you had to go all the way back to 2018 for the exception. To me It does not matter what subjective rankings are anymore with a playoff format.
If we keep on playing this game of 3 or 4 loss teams having chances just because they have more talent or would be better on neutral field then we should not even have a regular season then. Just Name the playoff teams off rosters and don't keep score or records till the bowls start up.

A team that loses a third or a fourth of their games should not be in the playoffs.

College Football Playoff Selection Committee chair Warde Manuel said the committee values Miami’s performance this year, considering their dominant wins over teams like Florida as well as their ability to come back in other games.

“I think we value both when you win,” Manuel said. “Miami has a dominant win over Florida, then they had a close win in a very good game against Louisville. They found a way to win close games until they played Georgia Tech at Georgia Tech. You look at what they did this past weekend with their win over Wake Forest. (It) reminded the committee of how they played against Florida.

“We value winning with teams. But we do see when teams are playing close games and how they finish and whether they win them or lose them. We do watch that. But we value, ultimately, when the teams do find a way to win. But Miami has done both. They’ve dominated teams, and they’ve had some very close games. Even the loss to Georgia Tech was a close game.”

If you are following the money, Cam Ward brings the eyes and the committee knows that. They want us in. Hoping for some friendly refs the next two games.

It would have happened in 2018 and 2022, two of the last five full seasons. That's pretty often.

Your second rant is a strawman. No one is saying to pick the teams in advance. Losing games pushes you down the rankings. If you truly believe what you wrote, then you think the playoffs should be the nine conference champions and the next three highest ranked teams. So you would literally have the Ohio Bobcats in the playoffs, but #7 Georgia would be out.

That's your idea.

Oregon, Texas, Miami, Boise State, Arizona State, Tulane, Liberty, Ohio, Louisiana - automatic bids as conference champions.

Ohio State, Penn State, Notre Dame at large.

Not in playoffs: Georgia, Tennessee, SMU, Clemson, Indiana, Alabama, Ole Miss, South Carolina, Iowa State, BYU, Texas A&M.

That's Colombie's dream playoff.

As I said in my other post I see it like I see the NFL.
There are teams in strong divisions that get left out because other NFL teams win crappy divisions.
Tough luck, if you lose three games you get no sympathy from me.

I wouldn’t have a problem with this. I just don’t see it happening at the college level with how rankings are done.

And there is absolutely zero chance that the power conferences are going to go for a plan that gets one of their teams in while the MAC also has one guaranteed team in the playoffs.

Yeah what I’m saying is if they adopted an NFL format, so be it. Wouldn’t bother me.

It’s just never going to happen though.

Our odds per ESPN

Win last two: 100%
Win vs Cuse but loss to SMU: 71%
Loss vs Cuse: 39%
Just win the ACC and we can relax but it’s good knowing we still have that high of a chance to get in with a loss. Got to beat Cuse and have SMU beat Cal to keep those chances high.

Both Alabama and Ole Miss will get in. The loser of Miami and SMU will be out and some other team will slide out as well.

If South Carolina beats Clemson they will be in with 3 losses. Clemson could at least get ****ed because they are "ACC" only one of the 2 loss teams would get in.
So you are saying that by Clemson winning, and let’s say UM gets to Championship game and loses or SMU loses, that those two teams would get into the playoff ahead of Clemson because they made it to Championship game, hence why Clemson needs to win?

Yes, the committee won't want 3 ACC teams in. USCe at 9-3 is more likely to take a potential spot than Clemson would be at 10-2.

The only way UGA is out is if GT absolutely thumps them, which will not happen. I don't think there is any scenario where UGA is out, even if they lose one more game. If they make the SECCG and lose, they are definitely not out.
If GA loses last 2 they out.
