It does though. It really does.

Rankings matter for recruiting, national exposure, fan support, and building a deeper resume for tournament selection and seeding.

We’re in a fine spot now, but we have to keep winning because the margin is way thinner for us than the teams who got ranked early.

Exactly. It matters. And it's not just about one poll in one week. This kind of country-club nonsense has been going on for decades. It will take a sustained discussion to reform the status quo.

I think every team from 6-25 lost once this week so we shouldn’t fall far. I can’t believe how many ranked teams lost this week.
 
Watching a Houston team slam a good Cincinnati team. Houston up 18 with 15 min. to go. I think Houston is No. 1 team right now.

The next 9 ACC games are likely to be quite competitive. Unless we start playing with drive and consistency, and PACK has his Charlie Moore shoes on whole game. I think W5 L4 is as likely as not, and might even be a decent outcome. Even FSU and BC are far from "gimmes" especially FSU on the road... of course I'll be "there".

We are better than any team in the ACC, just can't afford to go 5-32 from 3 and must shoot better FTs

I know the men are 13-2 and have some nice W's but that Ga Tech game is going to **** me off unless we run the table the next few games. Gotta beat BC, Nc State, and Cuse going into the Duke game.
 
We should be solidly entrenched in the top 20. The NC State going into OT Away doesn’t hurt you now that we beat the Cuse.

I just don't get our Sagarin rankings (again).

3 - 0 against their top 25 is better than anyone else. Only 13 teams have more wins against their top 50. Only 6 (SIX!) teams above us in their ranking have a better overall record.

And we're ranked 42nd.
 
15- 4 with three of those losses by a total of 10 points all on the road. Not saying we should be #8 in the country but these polls definitely like to take into consideration bball history. I mean UCLA is 17-3 and has 2 quality wins looking at their schedule...and Maryland isnt even looking as good right now. UVA at 7 with 3 losses including one to us.

So we just need to start winning but even an epic run to the finish where we go 8-3 or something and we are probably still somehow a 3 seed at best unless we win the ACC tourney as well. I'd love to finish around 25 wins and at least 2 W's in the Acc tourney. But the conference is a battle.
