Cam Ward finishes a distant 4th in the Heisman

Amazing how our "Fans" hold our players to a higher standard than they do EVERYONE else. Caleb Williams didn't play on an undefeated team, Jayden Daniels played on a team that lost THREE GAMES in the regular season. No one cared.

I've said it once and I'll say it again: Our fans are the worst. Bar None. Cam had more than a compelling case, but he didn't have a gimmick. If you would have taken his stats and accomplishments and put "Senior QB from the University of Georgia" after his name, he would have been in the hunt, and maybe won it. Cam didn't have a gimmick, and narratives win the Heisman, not actual production. If it was about production, Jeanty would have won it, and he didn't.
It's because they're not really fans; they're the same people who pull for kids that play for rivals because they knew the kid's grandma from the neighborhood 20 years ago.

It should have been a neck-and-neck race between Aston and Cam; how anyone could watch CFB and not know they were the best two players week in and week out is laughable.

I think Aston is the one who got screwed. Cam was great here but not the best college football player this year. He carried us the entire year but he did have some bad moments.

Gabriel and Jeanty were the only candidates that actually played significant roles in getting their teams to the playoff. Hunter and Ward did not. Another bull **** show..

That Oregon game unfortunately was too early. Had it been mid season he probably wins the Heisman. The Hunter cardiovascular award to me was a ******* joke. And him winning WR and Def player of the year awards even worse.

Sanders invited a good friend of mine to Jackson St to talk to the team about training and nutrition. He was telling me obviously he knew about Hunter but most kids don’t really think or pay attention to that type of stuff until they’re older

He said during the seminar the kids were respectful but also not taking it super seriously. Hunter wrote down every word he said. Afterwards he asked all kinds of specific questions and he would hit him up all the time afterwards trying to learn more

He’s like **** this kid is gonna be good

Anyway sort of on topic off topic but always stood out to me

Is anyone that surprised? The logic of Gabriel over Shedeur is exactly the same and Shedeur had very similar stats to Cam. At the end of the day, Miami fell out of the playoff picture and took Cam's chances down with them. I think Cam is more than happy with his overall experience at Miami and hopefully adds this as one more chip on his shoulder. He'll be a better pro than Gabriel.

They shouldn't be surprised, but they're crying f'ing rivers over Cam behind Gabriel.

The Heisman has always had one thing regarding QB's by and large with some rare exceptions. Your chance to win it is DIRECTLY tied to your teams overall performance. It's never been just a stats award, well besides that Nebraska QB with the career achievement award.

People are saying look at the stats. Compare them, it's clear Cam should be ahead of Gabriel. Well, that may be the case if we're only talking stats. How many extra yards, TD's, etc were gained because we had to fight tooth and nail to the last whistle? Gabriel's team didn't need that so likely some stats were lost through that. Is that his fault?

Like it or not, QB's get bonus points for their win / loss ratio. They're often unfairly judged on that. That factors into the minds of voters.

We all know how this goes, but the outrage is typical, claims of Miami bias. When that second loss came, you knew it was over. If it was a stats thing, **** the team record, there's a lot of QB's in those West Coast / spread offenses through the years that would like to have a word with the lot of ya.

The Miami Northwestern 7 were eating McDonalds for four years here for breakfast. 🤣

Extremely douchey move to say someone is not a real Canes fan just because they think Ward was the 4th best Heisman candidate instead of 3rd best.

Ward had better stats, but the #1 reason we didn’t end up in the ACC championship game and in the playoffs was Wards GT performance. We won 10 almost entirely because of Ward (some credit to OL and RBs too) but we needed the GT win. Unfortunately He played poorly for most of the game. I could understand the loss to Syracuse, they also had a very good offense and a top QB, we needed the defense to show up and it didn’t. In the GT game our defense got the ball back to the offense after a Miami turnover several times, but it often ended in yet another UM punt or turnover. GT wasn’t considered a good opponent. If they had ended up beating UGA maybe the perception is different. Ward was getting a lot of Heisman hype (yes even from sec slurper espn) up to that point so there wasn’t some conspiracy to keep him off the ballot or downplay his performance.

Gabriel also had one terrible game- against Wisconsin. It was comparatively much worse than Wards GT game. Big difference though is Oregon still won the game, so Gabriel’s awful game didn’t cost them. Guarantee if Ducks had lost that game after Gabriel’s garbage performance, he would not have finished ahead of Ward. He might have even got bumped out of the Heisman race because it was that bad. BUT on the flip side, Gabriel came up big when taking on the #6 Buckeyes. And that was a massive prime time game. Ward had no wins on his resume that a voter could point to and say “Ward also beat a top 10 team.”

So while you may get in your feelings about Ward finishing 4th and think the Heisman voters got it wrong- don’t be a **** and say someone isn’t a real Canes fan just because they think agree with the Heisman voting order.

Fair enough, but I still think if you put Cam on 20 different teams, he finishes top two at worst. IMO, he was held to a different standard after the GT loss.

Stupid, Hunter is an average WR and an average DB that plays both.

This is going to set the stage for players to try and do this stupid crap going forward. What a joke.
When talking about football at the collegiate level, saying Travis Hunter and average in the same sentence is complete ignorance.
