Cam = Best QB in UM history?

Out of our past QBs, he definitely reminds me the most of Vinny.
Vinny was the most NFL ready QB we ever had, with Kelly a CLOSE 2nd. I realize the Penn St debacle still is etched in our minds. But he made OU and their Elite secondary in 85 & 86 look mundane at best. And those were elite OU teams, don't kid yourself.

After we light up Tennessee, Ohio State, and Georgia in the playoff to win what should be our 7th title, this opening post will be correct
Exactly . I love Cam Ward and these Canes !
But I want to see them outclass other really good teams the way the old swagger Canes did . I think he will - he is a really cool relaxed QB with TONS of ability ....

These porsts worry me. Some of you guys are nuts. We’ve played 4 garbage teams. Cal, Louisville, GT, and Syracuse even will be better tests for us.

If he puts up numbers in those games then I think we’ll all be a bit more ready to have the convo about GOAT

He's got something special that's for sure. So smooth, so much easy escapability, so **** smooth, etc.
He's got so many of the traits so many past greats have had-I don't remember a Cane quite like him but Charlie Ward comes to mind.

Looked good so far, but he has to do it vs some real defenses before we start talking about the greatest ever.

Pound for pound, Vinny is probably the best athlete at QB we've had here. He had the ideal athletic profile - strong as an ox, fast, big guy and howitzer for an arm.

I love Cam and am grateful we have him, but I'm old enough to have watched Miami's QBs win some massive games against some great teams.

Kelly beat Penn St.
Kosar beat Nebraska
Testaverde beat Oklahoma
Walsh beat FSU

He'll have his opportunities to cement his name, but not yet.
Kosar my favorite comment of all time. Wanted Nebraska to make the 2 point conversion because we would come down and get a field goal and he didn't want to hear about Nebraska just failing to make the 2.

Replace Vinny with Cam on those teams and they’re better and we win the 87 Fiesta Bowl for sure.

Could’ve won the Fiesta vs PSU just by sitting Vinny after the 1st quarter and letting Geoff Toretta hand the ball off the rest of the game.
Vinny was color blind in the literal sense which perhaps infliuenced his general uniform color confusion

He's the best in my lifetime, and I have been watching the team since 85. Walsh, Torretta, Dorsey, Erickson were game managers. Vinny had talent, but nothing like Ward. What I love about Ward is his performance has really opened up our ability to go after high level passers in the future. We got Kyle Wright and Kirby Freeman because Dorsey was so good. We should be able to get other high level guys to come after Ward leaves.

Wright and Freeman were high level RANKED hs qbs. Reality turned out differently in college

I agree. I think we got them because of the success of Dorsey. I remember we even got a commit from some California guy after we beat the Gators. Can't think of his name Marc something.
