Cam ward gotta be feeling good with these skill weapons and this line in front of him.

Who played left guard and right tackle ?

On paper you’re probably right. I’m not discounting FSU, Louisville, USF, VT or, UF.

You absolutely know that Napier, Norvell, and Braum are going to scheme us well.

At the end of the day it is coaching and matchups...
Latter I'm confident about. Coaching is still unproven with our OC saddled with Mario’s influence. ..
Hopefully we don’t have a Mario wtf game this season.

I can’t wait for this to be thrown back into my face, but I genuinely don’t see how this offense fails. I really don’t. Obviously injuries aside. We are either elite or really good at literally every single spot, and there’s depth. I guess if we’re going to completely nitpick, I’d like to see Carpenter in a game setting to make sure he can handle the responsibility and physicality? But other than that, Pat Nix could coordinate this offense to Top 20 in the country.
If the OL is truly 8-9 deep, then there isn't a weak point in the starting 2 deep outside of QB. Barring a Cam injury, this offense should be top 15 in the country

Yeah Norvell did a fantastic job barely beating an Emory Williams lead team at home last season (with much more talent).

Are you privy to let us know which games the OC was saddled with Mario’s influence? I’m thinking Mario called the shots for NC State, GT, UNC and probably UVA. Seemed like it was all Dawson for A&M, Louisville, Boston College, FSU, and Clemson.

Honestly the fspoo performance against us at home fully healthy against a Miami team that gave them short fields all night with a depleted secondary(no Davis or porter) was putrid. That was embarrassing for them. And our defense will be just as good if not better this year. Better DL and older and better lbs. secondary is a net loss but should be adequate. Mid level ACC level I think.

Suffice it to say I’m more worried about Louisville offense. They picked us apart

Lville will be breaking in a bunch of new players on O though. New QB, new RB1 amd RB2, and new #1 WR

You could see the difference soon after the no kneel game. Mario reeled Dawson in.

Agreed. And then Mario took that sabbatical at the end of the year, which freed Dawson up to call the Louisville and Boston College games. Hoping he goes away again soon so Dawson can put up some points, baby!!

Someone warned me for saying slapdick last week so I figured it’s not cool to be saying that stuff. Still trying to find the person who warned me so I could have a few choice words.

I’ll find that slapdick
I don’t see any points or warnings. Maybe it was removed???

Some of these slapdicks don’t understand that your use of slapdick and shrimp**** is exempt. I need to find that KTDT - kill trolls dead thread - that has the rule in it.

Well since you mentioned me in the OP I’ll play along.

The last few years I’ve had wins in the 7-9 range. Last year I said eight games and anything less is unacceptable. This year I’ve been silent because I legit have a quiet confidence and it scares the **** out of me lol. Something I haven’t had in a long time.

I keep looking at the roster and depth trying to feed my pessimistic side. But every time I come away pretty satisfied. I’ll start with the OL and work my way down.

OL

There’s quality and depth but LG is one area I’d like to feel better about. Okunlola is further along than I expected after spring so he could play a part. McCoy is the other one to watch. We legit have eight guys who can play. If LG holds up and Carpenter is who I expect him to be it could be another good group. With Mario as HC I expect that yearly

Secondary

I’m not as negative on them as most but injuries will play a huge part in which direction that unit goes. Depth is a concern.

I think Jadon Harris can be a very solid starter that doesn’t make mistakes and just plays his position well. He might not be as **** or making the plays that Kam made but you won’t see bone headed errors either with him trying to be a cowboy. Markeith is one to watch as more of a contributor, nice ball hawk . I’d like to see him in obvious pass downs. Quan is the wild card. It all depends on how quick he picks things up when bullets are flying and can he be trusted. His role could expand as the season unfolds.

Porter made me eat my words last year at cb and was legit a very good man corner,. He’s a guy who can play field cb or move inside and guard smaller quicker slots. I’ve been leading the Damari band wagon since his Sr year of HS and that hasn’t changed. I’ve been calling him the perfect nickel / star since he arrived. But he can play outside as well. Nice mixture of athletic ability and physicality.

Powell is what we think he is and is the leader of that group. I’d feel much much better if Stafford made a jump at cb just to give more quality depth even though I think we’ll be better than some expect. That said there’s some unknown so it’s one of the two areas that have my attention. Ironically those are the first two things I’ve talked about in this post . LG and the Secondary.

Front seven

Deep and talented. The lb core is night and day better than the last few seasons. Alderman can run and will add depth at both lb positions. It’s Bissainte’s time . Now or never. No need to discuss Mike. That position is set.

DE is what it is and there’s no need to discuss. DT doesn’t have the elite monster in the middle or talent as other groups but there’s more than enough talent / depth. Different body types that brings their own strength to the position . Imo a nice mixture. Guidry should have a blast on third downs with the toys he has to work with.

Skill guys

As good of a group of talent we’ve had in years. Nice depth as well. Play calling and formations is my biggest concern with the offensive side of the ball. There’s so many different options and skill sets any OC worth his salt would be excited to scheme up plays for. Dawson and injuries will dictate what happens here.

I had Isaiah Horton as my breakout candidate last year and he had some good moments but this year I expect him to be more of a dude. Him , Sam , X and JG gives us a very talented group with some very young talent behind them. Cam , Arroyo Martinez are all guys I don’t need to speak on. I’m more than confident there.

So to make a long story short , i’m ready to be hurt again lol. As I’ve said this is as deep and talented of a team as we’ve had in over a decade. It’s the first time in forever that I look at every opponent and think we’re legit better and more talented. I keep coming back to the word “ health “. If the team stays somewhat healthy and the coaching doesn’t implode there’s no reason this group shouldn’t hit double figure wins, challenging for the Acc crown.

Play calling and coaching mistakes are the question marks. The offense is loaded.

Tackling is my biggest concern going into Game 1. I believe we'll improve as the season goes on, but I'm concerned about being ready by the first game. UF has some playmakers who can generate YAC if our first defender misses the tackle.

Glad to hear the offense bounced back.

This site wasn’t ready for Sam Brown when we made such a effort to outbid A&M.

I would not be shocked in the least bit if he had a 1k season. This is the guy that would theoretically take us from the very good to elite offensive category.

Dawson and Mario, just don’t get conservative late in games. I beg of you, put the pedal to the metal and bury lesser teams…and we’ll be visiting Charlotte in December.
