buzz heading into saturday

I agree. People need to give him a chance to develop. They expect instant results. Leading us back from a 10 point 4th deficit against a team that’s owned us since CJ Spiller isn’t enough to buy him some time.
Yeah I think my original comment turned into a negative towards Emory and that’s not how it was meant. He had to play last year because we’ve just done a bad job with QBs so of course it was an up and down experience

My whole thing was Poff was supposed to be a veteran guy that should be a clear #2. Maybe it’s just that Emory has gotten a ton better? I dunno. To be a playoff team we have to rely on Cam anyway

I’ve hated on the Bama QBs as much as anyone in terms of their nfl upside but it’s also disingenuous to compare Emory to them. McElroy led an undefeated state title team as a senior in Texas and iirc threw for like 55 touchdowns and set records. McCarron was a top 100 prospect, all American and also won a state title.

I swear I’m not just trying to bash the kid but it’s hilarious how predictable this fanbase is to bring up Dorsey. Emory is not Dorsey. Anyone who watched him in high school knows this. They just both happen to be white and not incredible athletes. If someone watches Emory and doesn’t have concerns about his arm strength I really wonder what it would take for that to be a concern in their view. The goal at the most important position in football should not be “Find someone who, if the rest of the team is full of future hall-of-famers, can be safe enough where they don’t lose us games.”
I agree with everything you said. I can at least see the angle they’re going for even if it’s rooted in delusion

Wait WINNING in HS is supposed to be some measuring stick? lol. That's like the exact opposite of actually talking about the player and their talent as a college player lol.
Theres more than just those two qbs from JUST Alabama lol. But yeah McElroy took his team to a state title. He was still just a 0.879 rated 3star outside the top 300, whos other offers were like BYU and Colorado. Also McElroy did NOT under any definition have a good arm lol. I 'd be incredibly doubtful Emory has a worse arm than him. He was also quite a bit smaller than Emory, and I'm pretty sure less athletic.

Jake Coker was a 3 star that had like 16 TDs his senior year in HS lol. Won Bama a National Championship. So you could say Emory didn't put up great stats for a bad HS team, but he still put up 37TDs to 7INTs as an upperclassman.

John Parker Wilson was a 0.833 rated recruit, and in Sabans 2nd season got Bama to 12-2, and they finished 6th and would have been in a CFP today.

Again, this is JUST Bama qbs over the last like decade and a half while Saban was there. There are plenty of College Qbs who lead their team to a **** load of wins who aren't viewed as top NFL talents their true freshman season lol.

There is also Gino Torreta, who also won a Heisman. His first action after Erickson got injured didn’t inspire confidence.

And I still remember Kosar’s first start against UFag. I was apoplectic, “We suck again”. Athletically, he was described as “ he ran like a wounded duck”.
