Bryan McClendon comin'...aaaannnd he's gone

This whole process has really taught me that I hold grudges and couldn’t make it in the coaching field lol. Therefore I know I’m in the wrong profession! I hold grudges and my Rolodex would be very small lol. This dude really love home that much to go back to a coach that fired you (or let you go)???? Man not me! If the pay is similar you wouldn’t me back home until that man that fired me is gone!

Now if it’s a big pay difference maybe I’ll drop my pride. If it’s a upgrade in position I’ll probably drop my pride as well. But this would be a hard move for me to go back.

Besides it’s really no loyalty in this profession. SMH
there is no loyalty in any profession.

also, B Mac may be more loyal to his home than he is to a stop on the road. the longest amount of time he spent anywhere as a coach was at UGA.

We just took Oregon’s coach because he wanted to come home, so of course BMac wants the Georgia gig and 100 % interviewed. I doubt he gets it but he would leave if it was offered. I’m not even sure what’s going on In here but it’s just that simple. No need to bleed everywhere or be defensive. I get some folks are trolling but come on.

If BMac leaves Mario for his alma mater how is that any different from Mario leaving Oregon for Miami? Timing?

When Mario left Miami after just a few weeks, many said it's 'cuz Mario knew Golden was a chit show. If BMac leaves Mario after just a few weeks, does it reflect poorly on Mario?

Interesting debate.

2 different scenarios. BMac has already coached with Mario at Oregon - then followed him to Miami.

Mario had no prior relationship with Golden - then after a few weeks bounced.

If BMac leaves its because its his alma matter

Apples vs Oranges

Agree on the prior relationship. That's what makes it sting.

So are you saying Alma matter > Personal relationship with Mario?

I think the level headed folks here said exactly what you said and get crushed by others bc it doesn't align with the jerk off fest.

1000 percent its logical to assume a dude who went there, coached there may want to go home if he given the opportunity esp if its for the same role. Mario did it for us. I don't blame B Mac wanting to go home if that's what happens. either way, its a business. all coaches are mercenaries and they can leave at any point. ****, our own HC did it to us as an assistant for a better opportunity (and he was absolutely right in doing so bc It was a better gig that propelled his career)

The people that keep acting like Georgia isn’t a better program right now or that it is a lateral job aren’t really taking their homer glasses off.

Georgia just won the National Championship and Kirby Smart has assembled a freakishly talented football team.

We want UM to get there, but for someone who has personal ties, has probably already learned a lot from working for Mario and would now have the chance to learn from another one of the top organizations in the country and HCs in Kirby Smart, it isn’t a lateral move at all.

He’ll have a chance to win a national championship year 1 and be in the best conference in football.

The OC and DC hires would be great to have by now but I’m not holding it against Mario if this guy leaves. Would suck — but not his fault.

whispers - UGA has been the better program since 2003 and it really isn't close. wed lose a lot more games than we have the last 15 years had been in a harder conference

No just making the point that the analogy isn’t there. To me there are differences in Mario to Miami but you may view them as irrelevant.
Fair enough.

I think the comparison of a coach going back to their alma mater in what could be viewed as a lateral move makes sense and don’t see the relevance that Mario was at Oregon for more than a month.

If anything, his time at Oregon where he stacked his own recruiting classes and won the conference title 2x is even more reason that many thought even the allure of coaching his alma mater wouldn’t be enough to pull him back since Miami was less successful than Oregon in the time that Mario Was at the helm.

We would not have Mario today if he had not left then.

Why is this not surprising to people on here. UGA is the top of college football right now. Its not a lateral move for him if he makes it. He is getting job security and first round talent already in place to coach.

Just look at our head coach. He was on the Miami staff for 6 weeks and Saban came calling coming off two straight NCs and he didn't hesitate to make the move.
They dont have 1st rd talent at wr.

Then add in the fact that it's being reported he's not even the #1 or #2 choice at the moment then wtf is he even doing considering going back there lol

And more importantly, they don't have much talent at QB or a coach/system that knows how to utilize it. TVD is reason enough why Miami's WR / Co-OC job is a better job than UGAs.

If BMac goes to UGA, it isn't going to be for money or because he views it as a better job. It will purely be because it's home.
