Bryan McClendon comin'...aaaannnd he's gone

Mario literally just did this by leaving Oregon. It was a lateral move. He was the HC of Oregon. Now is the HC of Miami.

Why did he come here? Because it’s his alma mater.

I don’t fault BMac if he leaves. This is a business and I try to keep it real. I recognize UGA is a better program than us right now. They just won a national championship. And it’s his alma mater.
So Mario was the head coach at Oregon for a month and then left to be the head coach at Miami?

This whole process has really taught me that I hold grudges and couldn’t make it in the coaching field lol. Therefore I know I’m in the wrong profession! I hold grudges and my Rolodex would be very small lol. This dude really love home that much to go back to a coach that fired you (or let you go)???? Man not me! If the pay is similar you wouldn’t me back home until that man that fired me is gone!

Now if it’s a big pay difference maybe I’ll drop my pride. If it’s a upgrade in position I’ll probably drop my pride as well. But this would be a hard move for me to go back.

Besides it’s really no loyalty in this profession. SMH

Why is this not surprising to people on here. UGA is the top of college football right now. Its not a lateral move for him if he makes it. He is getting job security and first round talent already in place to coach.

Just look at our head coach. He was on the Miami staff for 6 weeks and Saban came calling coming off two straight NCs and he didn't hesitate to make the move.
I think it's just more so the fact that everyone is on edge because we don't have an OC/DC yet.... We're losing more staff members than gaining it seems lol. I promise you this won't be as big of a deal once the oc/dc are announced.... If ever

He’s not a coordinator interviewing for a HC job.

He’s a co-coordinator interviewing for a WR coach position that may or may not come with a co-OC title.

It’s completely lateral. Possibly even a downgrade.

Except believe it or not, even on top of him being a UGA guy himself, some people, especially maybe those people who played and spent most of their coaching lives in the SEC consider a move from an ACC position to an SEC position at the current National Champion as a promotion. It's Miami's job to change that. It's like going from a smaller pond to a bigger pond in corporate speak.

Don't let me get in the way of whatever your agenda is here, though.

Timing is everything. When Mario hired BMac, I don’t believe either had any inclination a position that BMac was qualified for would become available at BMac’s ALMA MATER and that he coached at for several years.

Would you remain loyal to the HC that gave you a great job or would the pull of your alma mater that just won a natty lead you back there?

Tough decision on BMac’s part. I’ve NEVER begrudged anyone trying to better their lives for whatever their reasons may have been.
This is a pretty logical take. It considers timelines and context. Delete immediately.

After a month on the job? Show me where someone has been on the job for about a month and interviews for a lateral position.

He may not view UGA as a lateral position which is another conversation.
The DL coach at OU followed Riley to USC and then left for UT. He literally was a coach at 3 schools within 1 month.

I don’t disagree with this. Maybe we are looking at it one way and Mario is like good for you.

But you bring a guy from Oregon and you give him the CO OC title without an OC in place (likely to justify giving him a big raise you), you would think he’d show some loyalty especially given the guy you are running back to fired you (yes I know coaches ain’t loyal).

Common sense is common for a reason... 😁

We hired Manny in an hour, if he missed the call from Raymond he would have been tarred and feathered, Richt would have been called senile and Radio, well Radio…

Consistency
You don’t know what you are talking about with Raymond in all honesty - I do. I was told in almost real time right after the outreach was made to one of the people who was directly involved and have since spoken with another person directly involved who independently corroborated the events and involvements. Mario had just been hired. Our guys weren’t able to move the information along as fast as usual. The deal was done with Napier by the time it got to Mario. We were late.

You’ve been explained this before. All you’re doing, as it relates to Mario and Raymond, is being a contrarian without regards to facts a few people legitimately know differently from.

There’s stuff to pick on here but that isn’t one of them. We lost TRob, the OC and DC hiring process is taking too long - ok - especially if it’s Belk though none of us knows if we’ve been in a bidding war with another school for his services.

Even with that said, let’s see who is named OC and DC. If we get Ponce I’ll agree with the mopes here. If we get Dorsey or Brady, the mopes won’t look as good as they do right now.

loyalty only goes so far but when a man leaves one school and brings you with him i believe you should show him some loyalty and at least stick around for one year. these are really one year commitments. but if you are not loyal to the institution at least be loyal to the man giving you the opportunity.

We’re not getting Dorsey. Just stop w that. Dorsey is expected to get the fins oc job or at least the bills

I agree. That’s not the point of adding his name in there. The point is if Mario was waiting for an NFL then it explains the wait on the OC side guy so just stop with that.

That’s not quite accurate. There were already rumblings before BMac was hired here that GA’s wr coach was leaving.

I remember a slight mention of that but was very early in the process and don’t think that had any bearing on Mario hiring BMac.
