Bryan McClendon comin'...aaaannnd he's gone

That is different than they said he has accepted the job already. Also sounds like they are passing it off that one tweet which even the UGA mod on their site debunked.
I guess time will tell. They were talking about it being all but a done deal. I hope they're wrong.

The majority of posters on here think that the CIS hive mind is infallible and anyone that disagrees with it is a troll.

I like the OBB podcast, but keep in mind they also don't claim to be insiders. They comment on public news for the most part.
True. But to be fair, they seemed to know news about the Mario/AD search somewhat in advance. They were gassing up the Mario > Rad sequence well before the news was leaked. I they they have a solid source.

What if our OC is a WR coach? This would make it not a debacle. I have no inside information, but I would assume Mario would do everything in his power to keep Bmac if he didn't already know his OC is a WR coach.
This! Now you're thinking, my dude.

Exactly why I asked the question. Most people just aren't very smart. Thank you sir!

I don’t really have a strong opinion on the optics of it. He is constantly repeating the same drivel after every snippet of news or not news which is annoying and pointless.
We are now almost two months into the Mario Cristobal era.

Going in, we knew he would be a phenomenal recruiter. That’s always been his calling card. We knew we would not have to worry about that and so far he’s done an excellent job in that regard. No complaints.

What we knew we would have to worry about - as was discussed by many here when he was hired including D$ - was his coaching. He’s not a savant. He’s not a QB guru. He doesn’t have a cutting edge scheme. He’s not a good game day coach. Mario would have to rely heavily on his assistants to get our program back to the pinnacle. And to do that, he was allegedly given one of the biggest assistant coaching pools in the country. So we should be good, right?

Here is where are we almost two months later:

Cristobal has hired four coaches. Three of them are transplants from Oregon. The other is a 34 year old RB coach with two years of P5 experience.

Of the three coaches from Oregon, one is Mario’s best friend, one has never coached on the East Coast and one is actively entertaining the idea of leaving for a lateral positron at another school.

We don’t have an offensive coordinator, having been turned down at least once, maybe twice.

We don’t have a defensive coordinator.

For someone who absolutely needed to nail his assistant coaching hires, it has not been a good start for Mario. I don’t think that’s really disputable.

Obviously, that can change quickly. Mario could go out and hire two grand slams at OC + DC and this will all be forgotten.

But at this moment, I think it is absolutely fair to be critical of how things have gone so far.

If that’s “annoying” or “pointless”, so be it. I just call it like I see it.

It’s still an L because it shows he doesn’t want to be here and isn’t loyal.

No one expects him to turn down a promotion but to leave for the same position is not a good look. Tell Mario you aren’t interested in moving to Miami.

You basically have the enemy in your house and of course the info he gleaned and the WR relationships he established at the elite prospect camp he takes that all to Kirby.

No spinning; this makes Mario look bad…even the fact that it leaked out he was interested.
Just no.

Way too soon to start being critical.

It’s pretty clear that if he stays, it’s not because he wanted to, but because Kirby picked another candidate.

He’s on the first flight to Athens if he’s offered the job.
So what you're saying is, if he stays, it has nothing to do with Mario, it's because UGA didn't offer him?
If he goes, then Mario made a bad eval and went out of his way, wasting resources to hire a coach, who ultimately didn't want to be here, meaning it is a bad look for Mario. This is a no win situation! Even if he stays, it's a "bad look" for Mario.

He could’ve easily turned down UGA’s interview request and we wouldn’t be having this conversation.

The fact that he accepted the interview and is looking to leave is the issue. Not whether or not he actually gets the job. Even if he doesn’t, you can bet he won’t be here more than a year.

Exactly. All you are doing is giving a current update on the staff situation.

Will any of this matter if we are undefeated going into the ACC championship game with TVD as a heisman favorite? No. Will it matter if we sign 3 high ranking WRs for next year’s class? No.

But if we struggle next year and miss in recruiting, this last 30-45 days will be looked back on as the early bad sign.

For what it's worth, most coordinators usually take all interviews because it's actually a resume builder.....

Correct and it will definitely be used against us on the trail.

This is a great WR class and we can’t have our position coach looking for a lateral job.
