BLAKE JAMES FIRED

I have no time to read through this thread.

Just wondering how many Torretta/Alonso recommendations we’ve gotten.

I’m putting the over under at about 40.

Did anybody read the letter, they promised us a professional search.

Not “hey gang, let’s go get some ex-Miami players and stick them in there.”

You people.

If we’re going to change things around and do it right, it has to be done right.

Not do some bullshlt feel good put in ex-Miami guys with no experience, but hey they’re ex-Miami players so just shove them in there. What could go wrong?

You people need to stop thinking like that. If it’s going to be done right it’s not going to be like that. It should be done professionally.
Lol. What makes you think they’re going to actually follow through on any of that bull****? This is still Miami, right? 😅

Another guy I would love for this job is Louisiana Rajun Cajuns AD Bryan Maggard. Hired Billy Napier and Baseball coach Matt Deggs. Completely changed both programs trajectory and the Cajuns are one of the best baseball teams in the country.

What choice do they have? A Miami thing would be to hire Alonso and Gino - who are not qualified.

Yes they are going to do a national search I know that for a fact. Using a national search firm and everything. What makes you think they won’t.

Think like a donor. They just made that promise to the donors - they’re not going break it.

I could see Alonzo playing a role on the football operations side. I don’t see how either him or Gino are qualified to be AD’s. There’s a lot to that type of job that they’d be lost in without having worked in it for years.

We are only talking about it because it’s a CIS fever dream.

The only possible role for Alonso is as a consultant.

An AD that wants real power to change things around is not going to allow a layer between him and the football team - the number one priority of the athletic department that feeds money to all the other sports.

Nope.

Not gonna happen.

Not if you’re going to get a rock solid AD.

Think about it.

They won’t have it.

Would you? I wouldn’t. If I was going to be the athletic director of Miami I absolutely would not want Allonzo between me and the football team. I’m the alpha dog I don’t need anybody like that on the org chart.

I agree it’s going to be difficult to get a decent AD and say someone else runs football. Sure get Alonzo in the building. He has knowledge from 20 years in scouting. If he wants in you’d be foolish not give him a job running the personnel department for the football team. He just can’t oversee the “football department” and successfully coexist with an AD.

I don‘t know about that. An AD with clout, a highly respected one, shouldn‘t be afraid of hiring the best people.

Now, a HC wouldn’t want another alpha with the AD’s ear. Like GM and HC battles in the NFL.

The last 20 years, give or take

Then you haven’t been paying attention. Each AD hire was its own thing. Instead of speaking in general terms, give some specifics. You’re just speaking and in very broad generalities. I mean who do you think they’re going to hire? You have no idea. What is it that you’re so pessimistic about? You won’t say, you just moan.

Again the mechanics don’t work. You don’t have a layer between you and your reason for existence, your money-maker. The football team is what mostly will determine an AD’s success or failure.

And it’s not fear, it’s lack of patience for bureaucracy and time wasting. There can only be one coach, and one athletic director. I don’t know what role of Director football operations would fulfill that those two men wouldn’t fulfill.
