2025 Ben Hanks Jr 4* CB from Booker T Commits to the Gator

Well I won't bring up the fact that the Phins in 2001 decided to take Jamar freaking Fletcher instead of Drew Brees. OOPS
I remember this! On draft day, I was expecting Miami to draft Brees. I could totally picture the next day's Miami Herald sports headline - Dolphins Catch A Brees. Instead they went with a luxury pick in Fletcher, and tried to justify it in saying, "The Colts have Peyton Manning and we need as many good cornerbacks on the field as possible."

After avoiding Brees (twice!), they then went and spent five second round draft choices in six years of quarterbacks. None of which were with the team more than two years, with one exception. The essential loss of five second round picks helped to gut the team.

2004: AJ Feeley (2nd rounder in trade)
2006: Dante Culpepper (2nd rounder in trade)
2007: John Beck (2nd round)
2008: Chad Henne (2nd round)
2009: Pat White (2nd round)

If Hanks Jr signs with UF it aint because of Napier..its because of UF. Hes committing to the program not the Coach. Which is what your supposed to do. They could hire Larry Coker as HC and if thats where he just really wants to be, he will sign there. There is really nothing else Mario and staff can do to convince this kid. Im sure his NIL deal is premium, we have instant playing time for him, we are going in the right direction. At this point, if he wants to be at UF, he just wants to be at UF and there is nothing we could have done to change his mind.
