2025 Ben Hanks Jr 4* CB from Booker T Commits to the Gator

I’ve been trying to get him to jump for a couple years now…I just think he’s up to his waist in the swamp and can’t jump cause I can’t think of any other reason why he wouldn’t have taken my offer …
Samething hayes did right ? Then one day they’ll come knocking on his door he’ll be in Miami snorting coke off a strippers *** 😂 j/k about that the last part but I thought it was funny

The two biggest names to watch, at DB and in general, are DJ Pickett (Riverview, FL) and Ben Hanks (Miami). The Canes are pushing hard for both and there is movement.

Lane Kiffin is about as skummy as it gets in recruiting. Wouldn’t be shocked if he told Hanks he’s taking the job earlier in the process and to trust it. Who knows. Kiffin will 100% be a home run for Florida wish something else opened up for him
Still not sure Kiffin takes the Florida job over Ol'Miss unless the pay differential and upfront guarantees are significantly larger. He can be the King in Mississippi or move yet again and try to navigate a highly dysfunctional setup at UF with many controlling interests trying to pull the strings. Also not sure Florida would have the upfront resources or the will to get themselves into yet another massive contract with a massive buyout as I'm sure Kiffin would demand.

I know we are supposed to hate the Gators and believe me I do..but lets not get crazy here to the folks who say Ole Miss is a better job than UF. LOL. Lets not get too carried away. Ole Miss is a dead end job. They will never win the SEC anytime this century. (this was their best shot in years and they are going to lose at least one more game guaranteed). Gators isnt a good job TODAY, but its been proven you can win at least SEC titles at UF. That hasnt been proven at Ole Miss even when they had Eli Manning.

Now all this said, Lane would be crazy to leave Ole Miss for UF. If he doesnt win the SEC title by his 3rd or 4th year they will sour on him even if he wins 10 games a year. Ask Dan Mullen. As long as he keeps Ole Miss competitive they couldnt care less about SEC titles let alone national titles.

UF was a better job pre NIL for sure. I can't say that after what they have given Kiffen and of course he has blown it. I personally would never hire Kiffen as a HC. I would hire him without hesitation as a OC.

You explained why Ole Miss is the better job 😂. Old Miss is a dead end job that Lane Kiffin who isn't even an elite HC has proven even without clutch wins can finish top 10 nearly every year even without an elite recruiting. Florida wins the SEC before the expanded conference and with that outside of the pro Gator areas they aren't valued that high in the state and that's with UM struggling now they're even lower. All that to say you admitted Ole won't fire Lane whereas Florida would if he lost to UGA/UT as much as he's been losing to Bama so again the only thing UF have is nostalgia which means nothing

UF has greater potential but the unrealistic expectations of that place make the job less desirable. UF is a lot like we were after Golden. Lost in the woods, with no direction. Richt was our lifeline. We were never poaching a coach of his magnitude without him being on the open market. Just like UF. We also can’t forget, UF won its titles with two very elite HCs. Other than it’s pretty forgettable there.

It’s a way better job. I hate Florida. Let’s get this out of the way. But acting like Mississippi is a better job then Florida sounds like gator fans saying Miami is a joke program. Lane will bolt for that job. And take his best players with him.

Yes.

And let's review the numbers again:

The Gator fans talk as if they will offer Kiffin so much money. BUT HOW MUCH?

1. Kiffin is ALREADY paid $9M per year, and there are only 8 coaches getting paid MORE than Kiffin right now.
2. The #1 and #2 guys on the list have WON TWO NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS APIECE. Which explains the pay gap there.
3. The highest-paid coach who has NOT won a championship is Sarkisian at #3, and he is paid $10.6 M per year.
4. There are SIX coaches who have not won a title who are paid more than Kiffin.

So let's think about this. To make Kiffin the HIGHEST-PAID non-title-winning head coach means...a raise of $1.7 M. And even if you argue that "Florida has no state income tax", the tax rate in Mississippi is only 4.7%. It's not like Kiffin is in California or New York.

Will Florida offer a salary beyond any other head coach in college football, including Dabo and Kirby? It seems unlikely. I mean...WHY?

In Power 5, Lane Train has maxed out at 10 regular season wins (three times, once at USC and twice at Ole Miss). Why would you pay a guy MORE than Dabo and Kirby who has NEVER won more than 10 regular season games (and I'll even include FAU in that mix)?

I don't think the Florida boosters will do it. They won't surpass Dabo/Kirby for a 10-win-max guy, no matter how desperate they are.

And if Lane Train is only offered an extra million or two to jump to Florida...is it even worth it?

Yes.

Excuse me, you forgot that one of them was also unconquered one regular season.

Sooo, theyre gonna buy out kiffin at $9mil per year and payoff Napiers contract and then have a **** new package for kiffin and staff and NIL?!?!?! Just dnt see it

IF?!?!?!?!?!?!?

Do you guys really have the buyout money, the buyout money for the next HC, 10M+ a year for the new HV, another 10M a year for personnel and 20M a year for NIL to compete? I mean, I know the SEC TV deal is a good one. But it’s not paying for all of that.

If Ole **** wants him there’s no way UFAG is outbidding their boosters….

Kiffen's buyout is only 4mm

UF has an interim President and an AD whos on the hot seat. You would think hiring a president would come before firing the HC and paying the buyout (and also that the new president would decide whether to keep the AD before the next HC hire is made, etc).

Also seems like it is the boosters that want Billy gone.

Hard to see a new coach in place in time for it to help with Hanks and the other recruits.

Yep we do but it dont matter but introducing our next HC
