Beau Sandland Transfering

Can't blame someone for wanting to play a lot more. Good luck with a lower level team.

i love how everyone is doubting sandland and saying he never improved. seriously, the guy never got much of chance and saw limited action in games. caught whatever few passes were thrown to him and it's not liked we ever used in the endzone which would of been where he was most valuable. i wish him the best of luck and it's unfortunate that we never tried to utilize his skillset.

I have watched and rewatched all of our games and have noticed that Sandland had a hard time getting separation and was weaker than you would expect out of a guy with his size. There was a reason he didn't get more chances then he did.

true he didn't get separation, but a guy his size doesn't always need much separation. go look at kelvin benjamin's film and see how many times that guy had separation. having a big body and a good set of hands can make up for a lot of things. i get that maybe he wasn't working as hard as the other guys and possibly wasn't a "practice" guy. But you have to think you give him some looks in the redzone just based on potential alone. Even though Stephen Morris was terrible in the redzone. we'll see if he has production wherever he goes and i wish him the best of luck.

The thing with Benjamin though is that he was also super athletic, with a nice vert , good body control and long wing span that allowed him to go up and over defenders in traffic for the ball. Beau just doesn't seem to have anywhere close to that ability and he just didn't seem to play with the same physicality at the D1 level that he seemed to display in JUCO. If you haven't shown the ability to consistently out-jump or out-muscle your defender in the redzone you just can't be considered a reliable redzone threat IMO

well that's kind of my point. when did he ever get an opportunity to out-jump or out-muscle a defender in the redzone outside of his one touchdown? bringing in a swing TE and bulking him up to be a more effective blocker is more on the staff in not utilizing him correctly. I just don't get how you don't give him some opportunities to show what he can do. especially in a game like against USF where we were up.

Maybe because he never proved in practice that he deserved chances to show what he can do? The kid had a great highlight tape in JUCO, but whenever he was on the field at UM it looked like he was encapsulated in molasses.

Agreed. Lost me at Kelvin Benjamin.

There is no conspiracy here IMO. He was highly rated out of JUCO so the Board was obviously excited to land him - as happens with most highly rated recruits. He came. He saw. He got beat out. He wants PT. I think he would get some here, but probably would be better for any draft hopes to go where he will get more touches.

I could be wrong. My name is not Beau Sandland.

Good luck to him.

Last year he was tagged as a can't miss prospect when coming in by many on this board. Goes to show, nothing is a given in recruiting. Some people do not fit certain teams schemes, others times not as talented as the recruiting experts think, other times coaches can not find a players skill set and utilize them properly. Not sure which it is for him, but good luck to the young man. And it will help with scholly numbers.

Maybe he wanted to give himself a chance and see where he landed, maybe he saw camp as last opportunity to make a move then at end of camp not only did he not catch #46 but he got pushed down depth chart also. He wants to play so he is making a move.

Horrible move on his part... He is in the rotation at either 2 or 3. Injuries happen all the time...

Not sure where is going to get a lot more snaps???

Wish him the best...

In the scrimmages and games I saw him play,he struck me as a lazy player. In other words,if the pass not to him ran at half speed.
On a run around the other end went thru the motions of making a block. As Jimmy J.used to say"He talked the talk, but he didn't always
walk the walk!"

I see the same issue with Tracy Howard. He's a ball hawk in coverage, but lazy as **** in tackling and lazy away from the play.
