Battle's OSU Visit

we wasn’t even talking about him on this board until recently so how does it feel like such a big loss to ppl??

Because they love to b*tch and have that woe it’s me mentality. Battle been leaning to osu this ain’t nothing new, we gave a late push but it is what it is. I’m sure they will keep recruiting him

I'm not sold on this "position coaches who have proven worth in the field" line of thinking. You don't need to find the coaching equivalent of some ancient martial arts guru hidden on the top of a mountain teaching the secret five finger death punch. Unless a particular position coach is really, really bad at his job, all position coaches are going to teach basically the same techniques. Recruiting is what wins championships. Every once in a while you find a lesser talented team (in terms of overall recruiting ranking) with a novel system make a deep run like Oregon a few years back, but by and large the teams that stack the most chips win 'ships. Banda seems to have a generally good track record, Rumph losing the kids he used to coach was simply embarrassing.

That said LCL claims Battle wasn't near the top guy on the board and I believe him, so just shrugging my shoulders at this "miss."

Once the staff started to really push for Battle it seems as if they put Gant on the back burner. I know about the rumors of Gant to FSU but does anyone think that the staff will redirect their energy to him? Did we lose any traction with Gant that we did have prior to him decommitting from Bama?

Who else does the staff go after outside of MAR and Stevenson? I know Nunn and Logan comes to mind but I truly believe that we can flip them the morning of signing day if we want them(exaggerating of course). Is there anyone else?

The guy was brought in because of his connections to High schools in South Florida and his connections to Miami. He was also an NFL DB and had done a good job coaching Db's at heritage.

He hasn't been able to recruit at the level expected, but he has coached at a high level and because of that his role has changed.


But you can't just let him off the hook and blame Banda for the DB issues.

I'm not saying he wasn't brought in to recruit at all. I'm saying that isn't his main role....that belongs to Banda. Thats just a fact. You don't gotta like it, but it's the truth.

All I'm saying is if yall are dissapointed in DB recruiting than Banda should be the first person yall blame, not Rumph.

Personally i'm not worried about recruiting much at all. We're gunna get studs. And if some of these South Florida bums don't wanna put on for the home team, they can go **** themselves as far as i'm concerned.

Some kids wanna leave home and feel they'll get more PT at a school that isn't chock full of the best kids from S. Fla.
Cater, Hall, Smith? With MAR and Stevenson out there? C'mon y'all, we'll be okay at the S position.

There is an article from Witlong today saying FSU is going to land the #2 rated safety in the country. From MAryland or Virginia. So they may be passing on Gant which would be HUGE!

The more we win, the more we'll keep the kids home.

Not all of them, but the vast majority.

Get to the conference championship game again and win the bowl game as a minimum this season and we'll continue to build on that success for the future.

In Florida, we'll always find some high quality DBs. It's the in-state position group that I'm least concerned about as long as our evaluations are quality.

Let’s let them finish their freshmen campaigns before we become over-emotional prisoners of the moment, and put them up on stage giving Roger Goodell a bro hug.
