you guys can call me negative but there's a difference in being a realist and being a pessimist. I've spent a decade on here being optimistic, the fact that I occasionally don't slurp as hard as you guys on occasional issues doesn't mean that I think negatively of the team or Mario in general. we'll be fine on the recruiting trail... that doesn't change that it would be weird and bush league if there's all these tweets around a good but not great player like jackson

A former-player-death thread is not the place for people to talk about his dad's criminal trial.

Nobody "started ****" with you, they just responded to your tone-deaf negativity. And nobody "tattled" on you, you self-reported your own trolling. Tuscaloosa County was a terrific program in the late 2000s, but have mediocre to bad since then. I find it easier to evaluate players from these programs, because they are doing the work with little to no help. Devin Hester and Frank Gore were like this.

Firstly, we don't know *for certain yet* who the prospective commit is. This whole 'whale' matter started as a debate last week when a staff member tweeted , soon followed by a commit from a very good player - but one the vast majority would probably not consider a whale. Now the emojis are coming again and it was stated by one/few that this 'better actually be a whale'. The statement wasn't about how well recruits are being treated/celebrated. The matter that was raised regarding the tactics of the staff members *possibly again* hyping recruits in a disproportional way. Why is everyone so fackin extreme in this forum? No one's running down a kid. *If* this commit isn't a 5* or very high 4*, then the emojis were misleading. Or do we now have to make every commit feel like a whale?

Lol..watching so many of you use your intelligence to use as little as one word to move the direction of an argument. I'll speak for myself - I'm not offended by the staff's whale emojis, for example in the Lofton announcement. I just feel the whale emojis set expectations to a higher level. Pretty sure we all have a good idea who the whales are.

My biggest issue in this forum (generally, not with you specifically) is people who use exaggeration and hyperbole to make their point. Have a take and don't suck, one once said. Don't exaggerate another's point of view in order for the contrast to bolster your own.

Late 90's too. They were loaded too until the opened Paul Bryant. Now the talent is diluted

Yes, that's why I pointed out that Jayden Jackson was pretty darn good. He's at IMG and the Gaytors are chasing him too, among others.

I'm just baffled why people are freaking out about the use of whale emojis, and assuming that the VERYNEXT verbal commit after a "whale emoji" is used is the exact reference intended.

We've seen posters use the "whale whale whale" meme. We use "whale" to talk about @Paranos style women. And as mentioned, these tweets are for the players, not us. Why NOT call Jayden Jackson a whale if the tweet is directed to him? Let the kid have his moment, let the kid have his fun.

We have PLENTY of time to analyze and criticize the class, particularly on other threads. Not sure why certain posters have to **** and moan within hours of a Tweet or a commit. And on a Tweet/commit specific thread.

I said earlier in the week or last week that Riley would probably be on commit watch. Gibson already visited and ia really torn between us and Texas and we are likely taking 2 RBs. We are not dropping Hellcat like some man suggested. He is rapid and local and a really good player, regardless of the ratings. So it seemed logical to me that if his people want him out of Bama and it seem he has zoned in on Miami, once the parents or family visited Coral Gables, it would be a wrap. Especially considering he has no other OV'z set up, and has not taken any other either. Just my brain working, no insider info.

Also forget timelines with these recruits committment man. Long as we have them in the boat on signing day thats all that counts. We had to wait on Bain, Pancake and Damari even when we got pessimistic during a turbulent season. Let the staff lay the foundations that will not only get them to commit but prevent decommittments when them other teams get desperate

Not entirely unfair, but at a certain point droning on and on about what is essentially a semantic argument in a thread meant to bring awareness to upcoming commits to celebrate those commits, it just comes off as self-centered and overly emotional.

Otherwise, I will note it's the staff's definition of a "whale" at issue, not ours. And even here at CIS, I think there is some disagreement (5*, top 100 player, top 247, etc...). For instance, if it's for Riley, I consider him a whale and doubt I'd be alone in that sentiment.

This is all such bull****, particularly your separate condescending comment on "we all have a good idea who the whales are". Which is a lie. Which is exactly why I questioned the mope about Jayden Jackson, who is a composite 4-star.

The issue is not "defining a whale", the issue involves mopes coming here to run down specific kids based purely on speculation and guesswork.

AND FOR WHAT? Because Dennis Smith's tweets got him overly pumped and now he's disappointed and depressed? Good lord...

Only thing I could possibly speculate on is that we are possibly helping the kid to raise his profile, monitoring what he does as a senior, and then helping him to find another school if he's not quite ready for the Miami grind.

But I think that would be a mutual thing, not a "Mario pushing a guy out" thing.

Makes sense. I’m not too familiar with Mario’s recruiting details when he was at Oregon so I can only go by what I’ve seen from him here. A lot of speculation about Frankie last year and nothing came of it. One thing about Mario is he comes across as a pretty emphatic guy about his decisions.

The only way Frankie gets dropped would’ve been if the transcript / grade issue wasn’t taken care of ( I posted this at the time) .

If Mario scouts and recruits a guy and he checks the boxes the chances are low they’ll be “ pushed out “.
