Barry Jackson in depth about the defense/D'onofrio

What are they? Freshman with some games under their belt. Most haven't done UTough, most haven't had a proper off season, some should have been redshirtted.

The "freshmen aren't freshmen" cliche' is tired.

As is every rationalization for having a 116/120 ranked defense.

As is claiming that the 82nd ranked defense was the 116th ranked defense.
116 Miami (FL) 12 955 5837 6.11 44 486.42
117 Colorado 12 824 5862 7.11 73 488.50
118 Arizona 13 1085 6487 5.98 60 499.00
119 Baylor 13 1080 6529 6.05 65 502.23
120 Louisiana Tech

Further because you seem to be Dorito's white knight, I propose an avvy bet based on our defensive ranking/improvement next year.

Who you talking to?
You

81 Arkansas 12 47 44 0 0 0 13 0 365 30.42 4 8 0
82 Miami (FL) 12 44 39 2 0 0 19 1 366 30.50 7 5 0
82 Troy 12 46 38 2 0 0 16 0 366 30.50 5 7 0
84 Fla. Atlantic 12 47 46 0 0 0 14 0 370 30.83 3 9 0

Points are what count.

And I'm far from Corch Duh's white knight. I'm merely a guy who likes to focus on facts and engage in intelligent agenda-free discourse.

If you'd like to propose a wager, I'm willing to listen. Just make it realistic unlike your expectations for the 2012 defense.

You are far from his white knight, yet you use the same rationalization he uses to dismiss the defensive stats. Yardage doesn't matter, I know.

I'll think of some terms and PM you later on. They will be realistic, don't worry.

The point is that by game 12, the freshmen aren't freshmen anymore. Golden himself will tell you the same. Perhaps you could make a case for Jenkins not falling into this category as he only got major minutes towards the end. That the defense showed only minimal improvement by the Duke game shows that nothing much was being learned out there for four months.

Seared flesh on tailpipe tired.

He lives!!!!!!!

Well these guys were able to pass classes left and right during the first few weeks of the semester, by the second game they already had 60 Credits and were technically juniors.

Age is age, experience is experience and freshman are freshman.

Being 82nd doesn't make me feel any better about Dorito.

The numbers are terrible. No one disputes that. The dispute boils down to why they're terrible. It really makes no difference to me if we were 63rd or 82nd last year because both numbers suck. Some people think it's all Corch Duh'Nofrio, some think it's all about the players, and some are willing to admit that it might be a mix of the two and that we'll eventually see what the real answer is when the young guys have more experience under their belts and the slugs are purged from the lineup.

someone is actually propping up 82??

oh lawd

Yeah, that's exactly what "someone" is doing. Pay attention and quit throwing strawman **** out there. No one is happy with 82nd, but it's better than 116th. Some of us, however, are willing to look at all the factors that go into fielding a defense and not just do the dopey fan thing of blaming the corch.

If Michael Phelps loses an arm in a wood chipper accident, it won't mean that he forgot how to swim. It will, however, stop him from getting great results in the pool.

not sure why you're okay with 82?

Not really sure why you can't seem to grasp that I think 82 sucks, yet I'm not willing to blame it all on the corch like a dope.

Not sure that anyone is putting all of the blame on Dorito. We have a 24 game sample size with him as DC. We've lost 11 of those games and have given up a ton of yards (and some points too). It's not all his doing but he stinks and I don't like him.

There are plenty of people who who have stated that Coach D is the reason why the defense was terrible. They might be right...or they might be wrong. We shall see as soon as we aren't playing with a DL that looks like it's mosh surfing on every play.

Dorito: There’s not a coverage we don’t have. We pressure a lot of different ways; I probably ran five different safety pressures last year. I’ve never been so stubborn that I say, ‘This is what we do.’ It’s about the players and what can they do well. I never get boxed in and say, ‘This is our scheme.’

I don't like the philosophy of going with the defensive strategy, of not blitzing your linebackers, but being fine with blitzing your safety...

I don't give a good god**** about that fish. Fillet it and fast food it if ya want to. All I give a **** about's winning the Super Bowl.

i guess what it really is for me when it comes to donofrio is that his sideline demeanor is sloppy. his pants are too big and he looks like he isn't wearing an undershirt.

i firmly believe in looking the part. i understand it's football and it's hot and in the elements and whatnot, but sheesh, do u have to look so disheveled?

randy, for all his failures at least looked the part

This is a joke, right?

We didn't blitz any LBs last year? I could have sworn I saw differently.
