2024 Aydin Breland 4* DT from Mater Dei

Not only that, but the example he gave he's not correct about. Usc certainly expected Addison for months. However during that same time frame he stayed in regular contact with us as well. If we would've gave him the offer he wanted he would've came to us just as quickly. But we weren't on him as hard because we had that same contact with zay flowers who changed his mind about the portal at the last possible second. Overall the point he made about moves in the shadows is obvious all across the board. It still doesn't change the warning that was pointed out.
We are the school who offered big money to Zay Flowers. I know some BC people and they keep telling me Zay flowers turned down “a million dollars in NIL money” from some school. They did not know the school and I am sure the dollar amount is exaggerated but this is very interesting.

I was saying this exact thing when people were screaming to just “overpay” for a DT this last offseason

Sometimes I wonder if people here interact with other humans in the real world or it’s just playing too many video games

as long as you can put together a legit Madden squad in franchise mode than clearly their knowledge on the topic is more than adequate... 😉

We had plenty of dialogue with him is all I care to say and we were of the impression he would be coming. But last minute he chose to stay. You fill in the blanks there if you'd like.

Frankly I am glad that he did not come. Not because Flowers is not very good, but because with that terrible offense last season we would have wasted the money and wasted his talent. Put Flowers on this season’s team and he’d go for a 1000 yards easy.

Yeah there's way way too many people living in Miami who are poor for 400k to be justified as middle class
I perceive the reason people might view it that way is cause everyone tries to look at the class above them and compare themselves to them, and miami has so many obscenely rich people that it distorts their view of wealth.

I don't think the amount was exaggerated. I know we offered him a ton.

Yes. But depending on the portal is a tricky slope for numerous reasons. #1 the potential effects it could have on kids already in the room. #2 there is no gaurentee someone with success elsewhere would transition well towards here. They might not get a waiver. They want gaurentees we shouldn't be willing to give in the form of playing time. All kinds of potential hiccups when you bring in a one or two year fix.
I hear FSU recruits and current young players on team are concerned about how they are so portal heavy. Year 4 under Norvell, you would think you’d see his kids playing and be developing.

400k I’m Miami is middle class
Same thing with all the major cities
400k in norman ok, might make u 1%
in Miami 400k can’t flex without the guy next to me flexing harder
College pssy is More abundant and I am absolute baller king
I could see why kids go to the small college towns

Georgia drops bags but don’t need to go as crazy as people think because kids want to go there. And, rightfully so. Back to back championships can do that.
A lot of people don't seem to get this; of course NIL is a factor but a lot of these kids are looking at it from what sets them up the best for the future.

A pretty relevant analogy would be a non athlete being offered an academic full ride scholarship to a school like Louisville* vs partial or no aid to go to say Princeton. Most are going to pick Princeton (or at least some other good school that is not offering as much as UL) b/c of it setting them up better for the future. Everyone has their own situations and preferences that factor into it but it ain't just straight up money for most (and honestly I would be worried about any recruit that was only considering in NIL in their decision).

*I am not saying that Miami is athletically the equivalent of UL academically, just trying pick a school off the top of my head that I know does not have strong academics to make the analogy clear

DC has always been up there. Most educated city in the country. That will usually mean higher paying jobs on average.
I am from DC so I definitely know that, but previously NY, Boston and San Fran were all higher than us and I think Seattle at times too. But I might be mixing that up with Cost of Living which would be related, but possibly slightly different order.
