I'm sorry but did you really mean to say NYT is an EXEMPTION to media almost never publishing full stories with the full set of facts? Did you really mean to go there?!
There is no precedence for two self-imposed bowl bans and a league championship game either. Miami cooperated fully and the NCAA still went out of their way to punish the school more. There's no incentive for anyone to cooperate in the future. I still can't get over that Shapiro saying it twice made it true.

I think the NCAA will be shocked at the public outcry. This is more about college athletics and less about Miami specifically. I'm confident Shalala will have good lawyers in place. Does anybody think that the NCAA will say no more bowl bans but significant scholarship reductions.
i originally thought we lose 18-21 scholly's I am down to 6-9 after recent events
Donna demanded nothing more. It's pretty unprecedented. She has to have the goods on them or else I can't see her going hard like that.
first rule of business is never accept the first offer...donna asked for time serving just to get the ball rolling no way we don't settle if they NCAA ask us for 6 scholarships right now
agreed
and the NCAA wont just roll over, that would set a precedence that they cant afford that. They will require UM to make some concessions, hopefully very minimal ones, but they will not just say "ok Donna, we're done"

All 4 people (Plaschke, Paige, Torre, and MacMullan) said Miami suffered enough. Unreal.
I have been reading the posts here and I am not sure if this has been mentioned, but in the LOA they mentioned "Lack of instutional control." Then reading the 4 letter network they said the NCAA handed that out because they believe coaches lied. I thought the NCAA was trying to target the individuals, not necessarily the schools, for offenses they commit. Well I find this interesting because they went against what they said they were going to start doing. The other interesting point that was stated on that ticker was the word "believe." We believe the coaches lied, lol! So where is your proof??? Sounds like another way to cover their asses because the NCAA is now starting to look like a bunch of asses who don't do their homework.

I don't think PUNICANE is nuts, just look at the extreme these people went to bury us. They put their jobs and the NCAA's integrity on the line to try to destroy Miami. Meanwhile the $EC gets away with far worse things then we ever committed. Problem is if they investigate one SEC school, then they gotta do them all. Thats one big can of worms.
Just to add something to the USC/UM conspiracy theory is that imho these are the two programs that have the highest ceilings in CFB. They sit in glamorous cities located in fantastic talent pools. If either school gets an outstanding HC then I think the $EC has a hard time beating them. Unless of course the $EC is using PEDs like m&m's so that Alabama RB's got legs that look like most other teams' DT's legs. but maybe they just spend more time in the weight room? Yeah, that's it. They're that more dedicated than everybody else.
**** YOU Charles Robinson @CharlesRobinson NCAA's committee on infractions has a Friday conf call w/ UM prez Shalala & coaches named in NOA to discuss "procedural posturing" by UM.
