The kid hasn't committed to FSU yet, so I'm going to wait until I panic.

I remember how everyone on Grassy was freaking out when Antone Smith decided on FSU. Look how that turned out for him.

Collins doesn't seem like a dumb kid. I'm sure he has compared our RB depth to FSU's.

I have faith in Golden.

I can't find the article now, but Collin's coach was chirping about our poor attendance while gloating about how packed Wisconsin's spring game was for comparison (he has buddies on Wisconsin's coaching staff). When I read that....I knew it was all over for Collins. I've been saying that we should go after Folston ever since.
 
I dont think that Sony was playing vs Varsity as an 8th grader. he also appears to be completely full grown playing vs pre-adolescents. there is a good possibility that he is **** near peaked out physicaly

Collins is a beast and is in our backyard at a position of great need NOW. he cannot go to F$U

Up to their Jr years...yes, and by a fairly large margin. KT (similar to Sony) had a long career where he proved himself as a durable and tough inside runner who can also pass protect and catch passes. I was never one who thought he had tremendous upside but he has the frame, strength and feet to be a Lattimore caliber player in college. Collins' Jr film was impressive because of his quick cutting ability but he was only 185 lbs. or so in his highlights and showed minimal power. Obviously that's no longer the case, and KT is still great but Collins is a top 3 back overall, with as much upside as any back except Thomas Tyner. The strides that Collins made in 1 year are ridiculous - he's much bigger, stronger, and more physical, plus he's more decisive with his reads.

This point is still relevant to the Sony/Collins discussion because Sony might have a longer-lasting reputation than Collins but that doesn't make him a better back. I've seen 10-15 min of film of both of them from this year and Collins is ahead of Sony in every respect except long speed. Sony does have another year though so I'm not gonna write him off just yet - he has the potential to be even better than Collins if he makes the same strength gains. runs with more physicality and continues to rehab his injury.

EDIT: I expect Sony to be rated higher than Collins on most recruiting rankings, but I trust the Florida-exclusive analysts and amateur forum scouts more than the jokes that are Rivals, Scout, ESPN and (to a lesser extent) 247.

Michel, who led Broward County in rushing as an eighth-grader in 2009 with 1,825 yards and 18 touchdowns, once had the state’s all-time rushing record on his mind. But catching Glades Day senior and University of Florida commitment Kelvin Taylor isn’t his priority anymore. It’s leading Heritage to the Class 5A state title he covets most.

Michel already won a team state title with Heritage this past spring, running the third leg on the championship-winning 400-meter relay team. His surgically repaired left knee? Hasn’t bothered him once.

“These first couple days back on the football field have felt like I never missed a step,” said Michel, who was on the sideline cheering for his teammates all of last season. “It feels like I was never hurt.”

Now at 5-11, 202 pounds (he has gained 7 pounds since his freshman year), Michel said he has gotten stronger in the past year (he benches 225 pounds 19 times and squats 525 pounds) and has been clocked around the same time in the 40-yard dash (4.46).

Of course not, He just pulled up Sony 8th grade stats and compared them to collins...

Michel is good....but people shouldn't assume that he's a miami 'lock'....not by any means (especially when you have teams like Alabama after you). Dalvin Cooke, on the other hand, is more likely to end up at Miami than Michel and is buying whatever Golden is selling. He is also equal in talent imo.
 
Collins is bigger, plays just as fast, and a much better downhill runner than Michel. Michel still runs like a high school RB, i.e., takes things outside that don't have to be taken outside because he is faster than everyone else, a lot of reversing field, etc. Collins has the running style of an NFL RB already -- he hits the hole harder than any back I've seen down here in ages, stays low, has a low center of gravity, keeps his legs moving, and has breakaway speed. His running style is similar to Edgerrin James'.

So what you're telling me is that you don't know what you're looking for when it comes to Running Backs basically.

I'm asking YOU...YOU personally. Not an article from the herald or a scouting report from rivals. What are the traits that Sony possesses that make him so much better than Collins...if it all.

Actually I quoted this for the guy who said Sony wasn'y playing HS, but you couldn't figure that out I guess?

Sony is faster, and makes sharper cuts, loses zero speed while cutting, I also think he will be stronger heading to college IMO. He's Leasean Mccoy for a comparison, how's that??

sad to lose him but i think this tactic by fsu is a problem in the making for them

if recruits think fsu will do these 2 for 1 deals then i expect other star recruits will try to leverage them in the future and if they cut lose this franklin kid in a year or two then how does that affect collins then and what will the word be going out to future recruits about how fsu works these deals and how they turn out?

fsu could be opening up a real can of worms for themselves by doing this

It's certainly debateble, but it's by no means clear cut that Collins is better than Michel. You don't need to bash Michel, kid is going to be a beast, and let's hope it's in the orange and green.

I'm not bashing Michel. I hope and think he'll end up at UM. I think Collins will, too. Alex Collins just has a much more complete game that translates really, really, well to college ball this point.
 
Pretty crazy that you have 3 backs in 3 years with this type of talent, not even including Cook.

when was the last time you saw our recruits decommit and then eventually sign with us?

if you change your mind back to Miami, good for you. if not, Good luck to you Alex Collins.
