If we get Mateer then I will reverse my opinion about the season. We weren’t going to make a deep run in playoffs anyways and SMU probably would have lit up our defense, so doubts as to whether we would have won the ACC championship game.

Mateer has two years of eligibility so that’s almost like getting a top QB recruit out of HS except with 100% certainty that he’s the goods.

Let’s say we win the bowl game and finish 11-2. You add Mateer to that and I’m happier than if we’d made the playoffs and got bounced early.
