Dayum. For one or two years?

I do not have that information, but based on the market, it would not be shocking if it was for one year. Not from a "deserve" standpoint (who actually knows who deserves what?), but from a "what does Oklahoma need to offer so the kid never leaves" standpoint.

does he have a visit set up here?
or are we just hoping he leaves OU without committing?

Allegedly. But now they’re using the money line rationalizing interest in Miami, and ain’t no way we’re paying more than 4 mil a year for Mateer.

If there is one thing that I can guarantee more than death and taxes, it is that "blueblood" schools like Ohio Taint (Jeremiah) and Oklahoma (Mateer) will BOTH offer a ton of money AND ALSO try to money-shame anyone else who has the gall to compete with them by offering similar money.

Taint launched a pre-emptive strike on us in the Jeremiah recruitment when (a) Miami WAS the high-bidder at that moment, and (b) just before they outbid us. It was filthy.

Cam came back for another year of CFB for the purpose of elevating his NFL draft stock. Was he good before he came to Miami? Absolutely, but he wasn’t projected as a top 5 pick.

It's called "polishing a gem".

And we did it. Whatever Cam could have gotten at F$U or in the fifth round of the NFL draft last year, PALES in comparison to what he will get in a few months.

But in theory, the GM should have the final say in all personnel matters. The players and coaches. He should be able to remove the head coach for poor performance, in theory, with collaboration with the athletic director. The GM should be over the Head Coach like it is in pro sports is what I'm saying. Like, Pat Riley is over Spolestra. Grier is over McDaniel, etc.
he is the GM. the issue is Mario delegated part of that task to this idiot apparently.

fwiw, Riley needs to move on as it appears the new landscaped has passed him by snd scouting dept is spo run which is why they've become a great drafting team which they never were under Riley

100.

J.J. McCarthy signed a fully guaranteed $22m contract as #10 pick last year. Don't see a world in which Cam gets drafted outside of top 10. He made what he made here from Canes Connection and endorsements (a lot) + $10s of millions of dollars.

There is no amount of money Oklahoma can offer above what we offer that compares.

Gotcha. The old we’ll get em next cycle talk. That’s worked out well thus far for Mario
I'm great with Mateer but a lot of money will be spent on him and fixing our d backfield. If you don't do the latter we'll end up with same results. Mendoza is a side step move compared to EW imo

Oklahoma has up to 4.5% state income tax on high income earners. Just matching OU's offer and he makes more coming to Miami .

No I understand. I guess what I am saying is, Radakovich should pick the GM and the GM should be under Radakovich but should be Mario’s boss. I don't like the power structure. Because of Mario’s contract, I don't see it being possible to replace him if things go sideways next season. Therefore, some alternatives to improve the hit rates in recruiting is hiring an actual GM who has more skill at evaluation. I thought that was going to be Alonzo Highsmith's role.

Well if he picks OU they knew it, he went with his heart and they didnt have to overspend.

If he picks us we paid 3-4 million per year, with 1 million of that in bitcoin, a supercar, and a condo on South Beach.

If UM needs more money, fire Guidry and Dennis Smith. Mateer can be the first ever QB/DC/ST coach. Media got all excited about Travis Hunter playing both ways, imagine how giddy they would be if we had a QB/DC.

Completely correct.

First round picks get guaranteed money and have an extra option year too. If they invest well, they make WAY more money as a first round pick than they can EVER make in NIL (unless Jaden Rashada ever got paid what Florida agreed to).

It's insane. I'm not saying that I love the new NIL world with all of its warts, but this concept that somehow a top QB should make a decision based on an extra $500K within a year or two of his draftability is just crazy.

Off topic did the guy wash away and into the sea?

Not surprised to see this. Guess it’s up to Mario to match or exceed if the kid has interest. If Mario does in fact give the kid 4 million I could easily see the portal spend getting up to $10M this season given that we need to overhaul the DB room, 1 more linebacker, big time DT, 1 or 2 WRs and another OL or two. That’s on top of what the rest of the team will cost. Eye popping numbers if I’m accurate.
Miami is offering more than OU.
