If he leaves, its over. And OU knows it. They will do everything they can to make sure he doesnt get on a plane to Miami. Because they know they wont ever see him again if he does. The question is does Mateer listen to his agent? (Who you know is urging him to weigh all his options and hear us out and not just go with the first offer as any good agent would do) or does he cave into the peer pressure of playing for his ex coaches who you know will be begging and graveling for him to shut it down immediately and join them? Will be interesting to see.

It's been said he doesn't have an agent. I imagine his family, etc is helping him

We are about to lose all of our WR production and we “only” have to replace our entire secondary + add a DT and LB if we want to make our defense just respectable. Ward was worth at least 3 games this year himself. We lose him + everything t above = a .500 season. Mario can recruit individual players but his roster building is showing itself 4 years in

Also in Mario's defense, he inherited the roster from year prior.

I still think some people are going to be surprised with what Ward does in the NFL.

He routinely ignored easy yards for the big play and his deep ball is far from elite. He'll have to fundamentally change his philosophy to succeed at the next level in my opinion.

I'm not saying Emory, Mendoza or Mateer is the guy, I just don't think Ward is a generational QB that carried us to 10 wins. Very, very good player (and should have won the Heisman), but most of the pieces are in place on O for the next guy to step in and not fall flat on his face.

Agree somewhat to his projection to the nfl, he will have to get rid of some bad habits. Its some red flags in his play style for sure

But as for college? He is absolutely generational and he led us to the #1 offense which literally led us to 10 wins. If he plays at a B+ level instead of A+ we are probably 8-4.

And as of right now. The pieces on offense literally will get worse at every level

Oline losing our best guard and you could debate best tackle, but 2nd for sure. Need a new center..and anez is mid but thats another story, bell still isn’t a for sure thing even tho im not as low on him as most

If we just do the regular off season **** and think the best case scenario will happen at every position then yea we’ll be able to convince ourselves the talent on offense is near the same. But in reality we need a better portal class than last year

I'd take the chance on Luke Nickel as backup. He has already shown more on the field than we expect from Emory.

Nickel hasn’t taken a snap in college.
