All in on Mateer (Boomed and Sooned)

Let’s not get too carried away..he’s the hottest name in the portal because the QB portal class is trash. When Mendoza is commanding 1M you know teams are desperate. Mateer is **** good but he wouldn’t have been in the top 3 QB transfers last year. This is a pathetically weak year. Jackson Arnold and miller Moss both got benched because of how bad they are and they are “hot” names in the portal.

That said, if they were such great developers, he should be headed to the NFL. This is a weak QB class after Cam and Shadeur. Just saying. And is that Cams former OC too? Genuinely asking..
Genuinely confused by these takes. Cam played in this same offense last year and wasn’t considered a 1st round pick.

The majority of first round picks are first round picks because of crazy traits or multiple years of production.

Either way, I don’t give a shït about Arbuckle so not going to defend him. Just a weird take.

Huh? So Cam played in the offense and wasn’t a day 1…he played in ours and will be a top 5 pick. What are you defending with that coaching staff boss? Lol.

Im interested to see if Napier can develop him to the next level. He hasn’t proven he can do that to any QB at UF yet. Mertz got worse than he was at Wisconsin. And Anthony Richardson basically said that UF didnt develop him for ****. So Napier has no track record. Will be interesting to follow.
Gotta help him play call wise. Every big time throw he made was improv

Yup. We'll see if he turnover worthy play rate increases or stays low after a full season too... I don't expect his Big Time throw rate to remain quite so high, but keeping that turnovers low is the key for him imo.

Hopefully it doesn't work out for them though. Or at the very least we woop their *** again.

Its Decision Weekend for John Mateer

If I’m that kid, the choice is simple, I’m headed to Miami. The opportunity here speaks for itself. Just look at what Miami did for Cam, the NIL money, his production on the field, the endorsements, and how the program boosted his name recognition. Miami set him up for life, and that’s the type of system I’d want to be a part of.

On top of that, Miami’s offense is stacked. A massive O-line, a solid ground game, depth at wideout, and we’re rocking the number one offense in the country? C’mon, that’s a no-brainer. If I’m looking to shine and secure my future, I’m hitting the portal and putting on that orange and green.

Mateers decision to transfer is eerily similar to Jalen Hurts decision to transfer.

We had his QB coach as OC and there was Maryland with Locksley. Saban pointed to Oklahoma simply having the best players, which was absolutely true at that point and off he went to Oklahoma. It was the correct decision based on how all seasons went - Hurts transitioned that into a draft selection and massive bag afterwards.

Mateer is at that same point. It's about finding out where the best players on offense are and what coaching staff will elevate him the most to succeed. If he bases it on that specific fact, his choice will be easy. If he doesn't, it's his choice, but it'll be the wrong one.
