In hindsight we probably got ward cheap compared to where these deals are going this year.

Mateer probably worth more especially if he has a chance at a 2nd year.

With next year’s landscape, Mateer at UM is probably the Heisman favorite or top 2
 
A little off topic but still related,

Wazzou plays Syracuse in their bowl game on 12/27

McCord will be playing, too. Fran Brown says no one is opting out , so will be interesting to see how McCord does vs Wazzou's defense and wht Mateer does to Syracuse's defense...

Looks to me like he has the passing ability of Anthony Richardson, who had a 55% completion rate for his career. I don't have enough info to say whether he is the goods or not. I can just say that nothing he did in 2024 made me say, "Holy cow, this kid is on the next level." What game against P4 comp would you say was his best? 7 for 7 against Miss St? 7 of 14 against UK? 13 of 26 against LSU? Not saying you are wrong, but if I had to bet the farm on a QB being good next year, I'd bet it on Mateer.

Yeah I’m with you I’ll just say he didn’t do anything to change my mind. I’ve never called him some otherworldly talent. **** honestly this might be the first time I have ever commented about him.

But it’s like this board gets way in their feelings when his name comes up. I get it he’s a Gator and people are rooting for him to fail. On the flip side Emory beats Clemson with abysmal pass numbers and you got people ready to hand him the keys

I’d push all “debates” about him personally until after next season. I certainly won’t die on a hill defending a Gator but I had hoped we could make a run at him in high school for a reason

to me Cam was a much better prospect because he did the same season for four straight years essentially prior to coming to UM. He hadn’t won of course but the stats were insanely consistent.

Wasu defense isn’t good and they have a bunch of guys entering the portal. Syracuse is going to light them up

Ironic that the best play Jaden Harris made this year was when he was…on his back? 🤔

Seeing how our defense struggled with QBs that can run a bit and throw we still beat their *** but maybe a bit more fight out of them anyway even if it was his first game which is a tall task

Cam was one and done and had other good QBs in the market, Mateer might be worth $1 billion with the level of QB on offer elsewhere.

I will say, when a kid “takes time with his family” in a public way they never pick us.
