And have WSU rehire the OC at Oklahoma to be the new WSU head coach.

Hilarious.
Don't even have to hire him. Just leak that you're going to interview him to ***** with Oklahoma and drag out the process as an FU to them for drawing Mateer into the portal.

Mario has made it clear in his time here that if he has a chance to better the roster at a position he is not afraid to bring a guy in to compete for a spot. If we were just bringing in guys to bring them in, then sure, Emory should be given the fair shot at the job. This is not the case. In both years, we are attempting to bring in THE top QB in the portal. We're talking guys with NFL Day 1 possible potential. I actually like Emory but in no way shape or form should he stop you from pursuing a possible special talent at the most important spot on the team.

Our recruiting at QB has been terrible up until Luke and Coleman and that is why we are in this situation of having to take a QB in the portal twice in a row. The hope now, is that Mario has killed the QB killer narrative and we continue to put productive passing offenses on the field. If we do that, top talent will want to come play where they can showcase their talent, put up numbers and get nice NIL packages.
Agreed. Especially on the QB killer narrative.

This is all it all really comes down to. For the record, I think we can be competitive w Emory as well, but it makes no sense not to try and go out and get the best signal caller on the market.

I honestly believe that this offseason analysis of "what if Emory is our starter" is an analysis of "what happens if we go all-in on a QB and miss". Last year, the answer was "**** no", thus we signed Poff. This year, I think the answer is "maaaaaaayyyyyyybe".

And I love Emory. I hope he stays. I just don't think the the 2024 offense, which utilized QB athleticism, is as tailor-fit for Emory as it is for Mateer or Mendoza.

I have seen the game and he was 24-33 @ a 72% completion rate for 151 yards. 85 QBR

With a playoff caliber defense, we win 10 - 11 games with that and the stable of running backs we have.
You think we’re making the playoffs at 151 passing yards per game?
