all american games

I've said this before, even if we get him at this point I'm not expecting much. More times than not, kids who play these type of games AND exhibit attitude/conditioning problems flame out. All that being said, I'll still take him.

Fact. That's the feeling I get from Keith, he's not about the work he's about the fame

You guys mad at Keith Bryant are the same ones that fed his ego and gave him all the attention, you can see why an 18 year old kid would to get his ego fed more and continue wanting attention.

Are people expecting Bond to be an impact edge guy?
I don't think I understand the question. Isn't that exactly the type of role he was brought in to serve for us next year?
What he's being brought in to do may not coincide with what people expect. Personally, I wonder what his role will be. He's come out and said "not to worry about his weight," but he's less than 225 pounds. He'll need to put on a decent amount of weight, no?
We used 200-pound Gabe Terry and Tyriq McCord in passing situations this year. I'd expect Bond to bring more physical and mental maturity to the same role.

This is kind of my point. I was expecting to see a significant cut above what we put out there last year. And, if Bond is 225 or so, can't we expect a guy like Terry to be the same? After all, he's younger and presumably has more room for growth.

In short, I don't know enough about Bond other than the little I've seen in highlights and the fact he's a JuCo guy who still needs to pack on pounds. I think it's a fair concern.

Golden is.

What do you expect of him?

All I've seen is some JUCO highlights. Looks like a guy who used the same move to blow by overmatched OTs. I really have no idea what he's going to give us based on the limited information that I've seen. I hope to **** he gives us a pass rusher because our lack of pass rush has killed us the last several years.

Kearse must've gotten a nice deposit to not take a single OV. This kid switched 3 times before the summer mind you.....

Sammy Watkins was the same way.

i know they got Bellamy and watkins from his side (SW FLA) but got****......and its sick because they got a CORCH...with all that talent their pulling him and Jimbo are so alike its funny.

But Kearse is going to be a STUD.....kid iisnt Ray Ray back there...he is fluid at his height doenst look clumsy...im sure he can line up at wr and be a beast also...

Bonds looks like a Sam/3rd down guy, not a full time end, and I'd be shocked if he wasn't 240+ if he was telling Tito the truth. 6-2 240 in that role, as more of a blitzer than pure pass rusher, fits his abilities fairly well.

Bond at his weight is SIGNIFICANTLY stronger than Mccord or Terry. Add to it dude has more experience and pt at a high level than Terry at least. He is what we expect to see from Mccord in more of a reeady made package.IMO hes more fast twitched than either of the two and has more moves. Mccord though i like what i saw from him at times. We needed a ready made guy because quite frankly i dont see much edge pass rushers on this current roster and thats including Chick,Green our starters. Bond is 6'2 230 BEFORE off season conditioning expecting him to get to 240-245 before the season/.

Mccord and Terry likely are 215 guys.

From a couple of weeks ago:
Concerning Devante Bond's weight
He texted me this regarding his weight:

"Hey Tito kind of late but when I arrive at Miami I plan to be a bit over 240 seen people posting about that, I'm light right now because we didn't lift during the season at my JUCO and now I'm putting the weight back on and a bit more"

Let this be a notice to those of you who aren't sure about whether or not kids read what you write.

Let's slow the knee jerk on Williams here, guys.

While those first two screenshots weren't positive, consensus from practice reports today is that he is athletic and quick off the edge, an impressive athlete with great lateral movement...and he's surprisingly small in the ***.

Still a great prospect. Don't think the star services were "wrong." I think that analysts who had never seen him in person were surprised by his unprototypical size but also impressed with what he showed on the field.

And from what I've read, the dude is in love with Miami. I don't know about getting his family on board, but kid sounds sold.

Here is a story I did with him from mid-October when he said his family wasn't concerned with him leaving the state

Williams is a guy you RS and is 240lb by the time he sees the field. Would love him and Muhammed.

At this point we just need to find a Square/Nanton type

Square? I hope we never find a Square type again. That dude didn't make a play the whole time he was here.

Guess I'm thinking wrong then in my drunken state. Thought Square had 6-7 sacks his Sr year.

Tim might figure into being a better OLB prospect once it's all said and done.

John Square had 25 tackles 18 solo 3 tfl and 5 sacks his redshirt freshman year, im pretty sure thats better than anyone we had last year rushing the passer.
