Alex Collins Announcement Thread - link to stream in OP

Anyone who is acting optimistic about this is CRAZY! "Oh well, just one recruit not the end of the world". You must not realize what it takes to build a championship caliber program. You CAN NOT lose out on a top tier RB and replace him with a low end one (Gus Edwards). Yeah it won't hurt them next season, but this team is not going to be a championship contender next season, UM is 2 years away from even having a shot. In 2 years they we be in desperate need of a back to supplement Duke, and a championship team doesn't do that with the Gus Edwards' of the world. Furthermore, losing out on a kid who seemed to understand UM culture/history says ALOT about the chances the school has about landing kids who don't ie. Bryant,Bostwick,Coley...Not to mention if 6 is still undecided this doesn't help our case of swaying him at all. Hopefully this team can magically pull off 9 wins next season, and the NCAA goes easy. That MAY go along way in bringing in a better class next year. But at this point Miami is irrelevant in the minds of top recruits. Winning will help change that but unfortunately it's a catch 22 you need top classes in order to win, and you need to win in order to influence these kids. All in all if you've been content with the state of this program the past 8 years than tonight isn't a big deal to you and you can have a laugh at people who think the sky is falling. But I see nothing changing with this program and do not look forward to falling further and further behind.

I sure as **** did not read all of that ****.

Newberg tweeted Collins decided on the way to the set. LOL And it appears he told nobody where he was going.

My only question, if you're so comfortable there, why are you deciding while walking to make your decision?

Oh well, here comes the next Ivan McCartney. With the way NCAA football operates any kid following around a coach (Partridge) while also leaving home is asking to get screwed over.

Sucks to lose him, but as we often hear RB's grow on trees in SFL. Better be true because in additional to Gus Edwards we probably need to bring in another local back for this year's class.

As for the reflection on this staff, I don't think it says anything about their recruiting ability. They offered Collins over a year ago when everyone else had plenty of RBs ranked ahead of him in the state of Florida, with some Canes fans thinking it was a reach. Miami recruited him hardest throughout the entire process. This guy's ego grew and his coach pushed him towards Bielema and Partridge, end of story.

Dude was torn on the decision. After he was off the set he tweeted to our coaches and fans apologizing for letting us down. It sucks that he's not going to be a cane but he seems like a really good kid. It's tough to root against that.

I think for me its simply the shock of losing a 5 star kid to a 3rd rate school in Fayetteville Arkansas. It's a stunner - no one that was born and raised in South Florida really wants to go there, let alone 4 best years of your life to a 3rd rate school, with a 2nd rate coach to play on astro turf... This makes ZERO sense... Has to be something else???? Money???

I really don't want to hear or read any more predictions. NO ONE has insider info.

When has a full back recruit made a difference on a D1 team? Soma Vainuku at USC? Hows Maurice Hagens doing?

He's a weirdo. And a puppet. His dirigible pig fake corch Guntwood made this decision for him. If he's so comfortable in that shythole, then I hope he moves there right away. Get the f#ck out of my 954 area code, you traitor Charlie Pride wannabe ****.

Alex Collins is not a God.... he is not the most important recruit in this class and he isn't anywhere near one of the best backs to ever come out of S. Florida. So just relax.... Miami will be fine when it comes to the running back situation b/c of DUKE JOHNSON and we have good back-ups and as long as they dont have to start then miami will be fine next year.

I thought Collins was a very good running back but i never believed all of the GOAT hype he was getting on this site.... UM will be fine as long as they can get one of the 2 beasts next year in Michel or Cook. They are WAY better then Collins IMO.

They're good, maybe even better.. WAY better? Don't think so

you all have been fed a load of hype this entire recruiting season. Collins looked like GOAT in S. Florida b/c the talent in south florida at RB issnt that good overall like it usually is. Why else do so many ppl think that Greg Bryant and Kelvin Taylor are overrated???

If Sony and Cook were in this class, nobody would care where Alex Collins committed too.

I haven't been fed anything, I've seen his tapes. You'd be a dam fool to think that kid isn't a baller. Where were guys like you when we thought he was a Cane? Kid has incredible feet and has tremendous potential.

And last I checked, Sony & Cook are part of the talent pool in South Florida. I don't get what your point is.

I'll have ZERO problem rooting hard against him. I'm full Cane to the core. He's a traitor puppet, so I'll be pulling for Bama's big goons to pile drive him.

I doubt he plays FB, but that's besides the point. Right now, according to the recruiting "experts" he is a 3 star FB and nothing more. He's scraps off the Syracuse pile.

I don't think he was torn. I think he had a decision pushed on him. If you're all about comfort, and you feel the most comfortable at Arky, then why the hesitation. I've watched a lot of live commitments, and I haven't seen to many like Collins. The kid looked like he had a gun to his back. Most kids puff there chest out and let the world know. This kid looked nervous. Maybe he's just weird, but I think there is more here. The "every school is the same" line was some bull**** to. I guess if you say it enough, you believe it.

Oh well, on to the next one.

for a lot of people he´s not your natural fullback... more of a Davenport(sp?) type.

Watch the film... kid can run, too.
