Alabama and Racism

I dont get it either.

But, on the other hand, racist *** Bear Bryant did more for school integration in the South than any politician.

Nick Saban owns the state and would end any funny business before it could even get rolling (no pun intended).

Wasn't Alabama the last team in the SEC to end segregation?

It wasn't until USC thrashed Bama 42-21 in Birmingham in 1970 the Tide chose to end athletic apartheid. Bryant is credited with setting up the game, perhaps knowing he would get whipped. Alabama was coming off at 6-5 season and USC was a preseason title contender. USC was fully integrated, with a black QB and stars like Clarence Davis and Sam Cunningham.

The Showtime documentary Against The Tide is one recollection.

I know it was in the mid 1990's before interracial marriages could be performed in Alabama. There is real disparities in that state...the smaller the town the more obvious the disparity.

OP is a giant cumguzzling

Look pal. You just said everyone from a state is racist merely bc they're born in a state.

If you can't feel the irony in your ignorant comments ...

I was checking out Jerry Jeudy's Twitter last night and I saw where fans from different schools were pleading their cases to him to convince him to play for their schools and some Bama dude told Jeudy to go to Bama because "the people love you there, Jerry." Jeudy responded: "They don't love me, they just love my future."

These kids see what it is and taking what Liberty City El said, in essence, that racist angle won't work any more than the we love you angle will. They'll do what's best for them.

At least JJ is smart about it he knows. I bet he feels like *** it ill use them too

I really would love this kid to be a cane just to send bama a msg two years in a row. The best player u want from sfla u cant have

I know. We need to beat them for a top local kid every year.

Jerry Jeudy is a smart kid. Why should he go to Miami where he doesn't know if a dynasty will be built when he can go to Bama and be treated like a Living God by a bunch of White Rednecks?

Jeudy realizes the fans will 'love him' as long as he produces on the football field. The only race the fans care about is if he can out race defenders to the end zone.

As a white boy growing up on NW 189th Street in Carol City in the 1970s, I had friends who were African-American, ******, and Ecuadorian and understoood that America was a melting pot. I loved Miami. It was paradise. As an adult in a Trump America I see how far we have to go. I know the Republican loving Cubans will bash me and that is understandable, but Alabama bothers me the most. I see these tie-wearing, white shirt donning, racist from the worst state in the union cheering on their "boys" and claiming superiority above the rest of America. 99% of the fans wouldn't be caught dead at a party with the players from their Crimson Tide team, yet they cheer them on like they are at a **** fight. Maybe I am being over-dramatic, but it is kinda strange that the most racist state in America relishes the fact that their 'boys' rule the world of college football. I hope the kids from the 305/954/561 can see past this hypocrisy and return the U to the glory of the past.

So based on what you've seen on TV, you're able to to discern who these people are and with whom they'd associate. You my fellow poRster are the racist. And, no, I am not one of your, "Republican loving Cubans," so you'll have to profile me accordingly. You sit there on your couch judging others you don't like, or those that simply disagree with you along some lines, decrying them as racists or any other label that justifies your disdain. You are what's wrong with America. *******.

You know these PWI set a lot of these very heralded and regarded black athletes with white women. They do it for a reason. Btw I don't give a **** who you ****. You are crazy or naive if you don't think the PWI set these players up with white women as a way to try and control them. IMO when a black athlete leaves their neighborhood, I know they are not all poor, and hit it big . . . they are less likely to return to their community and invest to make it better when attached to a white woman.

So here it is:

Black posters who have lived in an urban setting will agree with me.
White posters that value social justice will agree with me.
The uninformed will think Im nuts.
Those that think the poor are poor because they are too lazy to do anything will think Im nuts.

Im white. I teach in an inner city school because I believe for too many kids in the area I work, their teachers are their best hope to move upwards socially.

I guess David Ortiz didn't get your memo.

The Alabama USC story is one of my favorites in College football bc it tells you everything about how these athletes are viewed by some in the SEC. Bryant only accepted integration bc he realized it was his best chance to win fb games. Not bc it was the right thing to do.

Bama fans like to tell a revisionist tale of the game these days that says Bryant knew what he was doing by purposely playing USC and that seeing a player like Sam Cunningham up close would be the only way the good ol boys would accept black players. It's a tall tale. Bryant would've loved nothing more than to shut him down and not have to integrate.

After the game, Bryant (allegedly) said something to the effect of : "well, I guess we gotta get a ni**er, too."

I know who David Ortiz is. Im not sure who he dates or is married to. And in case the reference to him is because he has views similar to Charles Barkley, thats great we are free to think the way we want. I actually like Charles Barkley!

Or maybe you are saying Ortiz wouldnt agree with me because he doesn't think PWI set up their very gifted black athletes with a white girl.

Clearly we are dealing in shades of grey, not black and white absolutes. I don't think every gifted black athlete gets set up with a white girl. I do believe that there are "many" that are. I have no issues with it, except when it is the PWI's way of trying to control a kid. **** who doesn't want to be set up with a ******* hottie?

I grew up in Boston-the blue blue-blooded bastion of thought and liberalism that is also the most segregated and racist area in which I've ever lived. I have vivid memories of the riots and people throwing rocks and bottles at school buses filled with inner city kids being bused into "white" schools after Judge Arthur Garrity signed orders to desegregate the schools in the 1970s. I am also friends on social media with a lot of the people with whom I grew up and have looked at their friend lists, nd shockingly, most don't have any friends who are different than them. The point is that racism is everywhere.

Moreover, as Liberty City El and others have pointed out, while Alabama is perceived to be a "racist" state, these kids will be treated like royalty if they go to play at Alabama and will experience no more racism than a recruit at any other school.

Ahh, glad to see the OP is doing exactly what the big money people who now control college football want him to do: Throw absolute statements about racism "ruining" college football around like molotov ****tails. These cronies are like an illusionist asking you to look at a something in their hand, while the trick is enabled by the other...OP is the useful idiot watching the wrong thing.

Oh yes, we try on CIS to initiate some substantive conversations about who is really running college football:

https://www.canesinsight.com/thread/peak-college-football/81505

https://www.canesinsight.com/thread/recruiting/76946

But as you can see, four pages and counting, throwing out "It's Racist" gets more attention.

Oh, don't forget the new development that UDub is now looking at a CFP position, after playing a withering non-conferance slate of Rutgers, Idaho, and Portland St.! Of course, Power 5 tool Marky Mark Emmert (you know, Mr. NCAA Quick Investigation...Unless it's Miami) needed a bone thrown his way, so his old school gets in, with the "Journalists" at ESPN not batting an eye.

As hinted to in my thread concerning the report on referee bias, UM is a couple of poor and vindictive decisions by John Swofford (who controls the refs proven to be biased against UM) from being relegated to the Group of 5. The Big 12 looks to get shafted in the CFP AGAIN and they delayed expansion to go after bigger fish like Colorado and Utah. If that comes to fruition and they move East to pick up WVU complimentary opponents like VT and Pitt, the dominoes will start to fall (BIG pics up Syracuse and maybe BC( If ND agrees to join) for Rutgers and Maryland, SEC forces Georgia and Florida to take fellow state schools GT and FSU, etc.) and Miami will be left out. Don't think it can't happen.

Why would Colorado or Utah leave pac 12 for big 12? Makes zero sense.

I grew up in Dade County but lived in bama for 12 years while in undergrad, masters, and 1st years of marriage. Wife is from Bama. while yes there is evidence of Racism in Alabama, Racism is everywhere not just in Alabama. I have met some extremely prejudicial and discriminatory people while growing up in Miami. In fact the most bigoted individuals I have had the displeasure of interacting with have been from South Florida. Just because there is diversity does not mean there is no racism. In fact, the most diverse county east of the Mississippi is located in Georgia (Gwinnette County), yet there is still a myriad of examples of racism here.

Just like in any other part of the country, despite the presence of racism, there are some truly really good people in these parts of the country. Some of my best friends are from Alabama, the rural parts of Georgia, Tennessee, and Mississippi. The interracial dynamics manifest themselves somewhat differently (not necessarily in a bad way) compared to other parts of the country like Miami (based on my anecdotal experience).

The practice of generalizing stereotypical ideals contributes to the very thing you criticize...racism.

Why would Colorado or Utah leave pac 12 for big 12? Makes zero sense.

No, it doesn't:

Should Colorado Buffaloes Leave Pac-12 For Big 12? - ThePostGame.com

CSU could go to the Big 12 also...Eventually FOUR super conferences are where we are headed, with the BIG and $EC assured of a place at the table because of their big money programs. The PAC 12 is aided by geography, "The Tyranny of Distance" as they say in the military. That leaves the ACC and Big 12 to slug it out. Big 12 Comish Bowlsby has deep pocketed schools in Texas and Oklahoma and something is brewing after they put the brakes on expansion with weaker schools. The ACC has Tobacco Road myopic Swofford who turns 68 this week and won't build the ACC into a multiple powers football conferance because his personal bias flows down through the conference (see my referee bias report thread).

The Big !2 is desperate, the ACC is complacent. It's a Battle of the Bulge scenario, but in this case, the meglomaniac is on the complacent side!

Lol, another guy who thinks he understands why the majority of Cubans are republicans....while basically stereotyping everybody who lives in Bama as a racist

Yes, Him and the HamburglerSheister have them Cubanos all figured out.
Cretinos.

More Cubans vote republican because they're so psychologically traumatized by Castro that they melodramatically equate any social welfare/ethics that the democrats might support as left-wing dictator nonsense from their socio-cultural-political past. Nevermind that the guy they recently supported and his fascist tendencies are much more in line with Castro, but that's an argument for another day.

Pyschologically traumatized as in seeking "safe-spaces" and cancelling exams for your students or telling your workers to take
a day off so they can grieve the latest Presidential results?
Also love your use of the word "melodrama" to explain your perception of Cuban's political views because of their life
experiences under totalitarianism, especially when you melodramatically throw around the "fascist tendencies" nonsense.
Keep your skinny jean libtard thoughts to yourself.
