Aaron Feld?

With Tommy back on the market, don’t be so sure about who will be the S&C coach. Whatever Mario wants, he will get. I’m curious to see what he does. There’s a lot of great ones out there and fwiw the one he has now isn’t too shabby.
Its not just hiring the right coach, its hiring plenty of assistants as well

Oregon is not some juggernaut like Bama m, UGA and Ohio St with layers of top class players. Cristobal improved their recruiting but they had significant injuries that I don't think they are equipped to deal with. Their defense got gashed because their offense could not stay on the field. I know people have said the same about Diaz. Difference is with Diaz it happens with any opponent, good, bad, and otherwise.

Are people gonna question UGA strength and conditioning? They got pushed around on both line of scrimmage, especially by Bama D who has not been very good against the run. Bama got gashed by Arkansas, Texas A&M and other teams supposedly not as good as UGA, even LSU.

If we are giving man a big bag for assistants i expect much better results than at Oregon. He shown he can manage a big time program. That's what u need. Results wont translate 1 for 1.

Earlier I thought he was good, especially with what I saw at how they did against Ohio St. Still, too many injuries and being dominated physically by Utah is making me think twice.

Yet Ohio State gained over 600 yards.

Oregon did enough to win, but they were out gained and TOP was slightly in OSU's favor.

The Oregon OL certainly did alright, but that's about it. We don't give excuses for injuries around here so I'm not sure why Mario gets them at Oregon.

He’s regarded as one of the top 10 in college football and has an awesome mustache.

They also have 2 sports science guys at Oregon - if you saw my post the other day you know that I’m a big advocate of that.

That being said.. I would not be opposed to bringing back Tommy Moffitt if he’s willing to do it. Give me all the nostalgia for this program.

If people knew how much better Bama's S&C program is than what Oregon has. Upgrade to the absolute best. Offer the best S&C in the country more money.

Are you talking Bama pre-2020? Or post 2020? You keep referencing Bama but they changed S&C coaches from Cochran to Ballou, which means they most likely tweaked the S&C philosophy as well. Ballou came from Indiana, so were they top notch while he was there? He wasn't Bama before he was Bama.

What truly sets Bama away is 2 things:
- They run their program like a pro team with proven results, so the atmosphere and culture there is unlike most programs.
- They have a ridiculous $20M Sports Science Center that helps in all aspects of S&C, recovery, rehab, mental health, etc. There's some videos out there of what's involved but it's cutting edge stuff.

Also, Feld did spend time at Bama and UGA. I'm not advocating for him as i know very little about the man, but it's not like he's oblivious to what those big programs are like.

Can anyone in the know share their insight or thoughts on Oregon's strength coach, Aaron Feld?

I know he's pretty well respected and worked in the strength program under Saban when Mario was there as well so if Feld wants to, I'm sure he'll be here.

I mentioned in another thread that Oregon looked small and got pushed around by Utah both games which was concerning but admittedly that's the only games I've watched so I'm pretty naive on it. How you guys feeling about it?
Im to lazy to go and re-read.

@AlphaMarshan isn't this guy you mentioned that overtrained athletes leading to a fairly serious medical issue?

Not slandering the guy, just asking...

No, that was Oderinde when he was at Oregon with Taggart. Nearly killed a few of them via rhabdo, led to some lawsuits. He's now the Director of S&C at USF. 🤣

I haven't looked into Feld really but I probably will if he comes to UM with Mario. He has a decent background but I will need to look into his approach to program design. Oregon fans love the guy but it's probably the mustache; most people do not know what a S&C does and what makes them successful.

The “workout” was administered by a newly hired strength coach, who was hired by a newly hired head coach. It started at 6 a.m. on the first day back from winter break, and, according to Brenner’s Complaint, the players were not allowed water. The walls were lined with garbage cans to serve as vomit receptacles. During the workout, Oderinde shouted at players, asking them if they “had blood in their pee yet,” while Taggart threatened to “find the snakes in the grass and cut their heads off.”
Complete bro psychopath. It's insane that some people want someone like that here.

Dude looks like a hipster bartender in Brooklyn that takes 48 minutes muddling currant to make you a drink that tastes like Dollar Tree perfume and costs $63. Hard pass.
Just saw a pic of this guy I'm pretty sure he was one the the guys you had to beat before you fought tyson in tysons old punch out video game

Apparently Bama tried to hire him away at one point. He must be pretty well respected in the field if that was the case. Good enough for Bama is good enough for me.

We need a dude who lacks the scruples necessary to serve the dual role of strength and conditioning coordinator/pharmacist.
