from what i've heared, Swasey is great, but Swasey doesn't need at this point in his career to get all the accreditations because of his reputation and the people waiting in line to work out with him. maybe accreditation is something he needed before but that at this point. plus his wife from what i understand makes a very good living.Sorry but if you can’t pass simple certification tests to prove you are an expert in your field then I’m not going to trust that you know what you are doing. It’s like hiring a lawyer who can’t pass the Bar or picking a doctor for surgery who lacks a medical license or board certification…..or a more direct example for you since I know how serious you take cooking, it’s like saying any line chef at TGI Fridays can work in fine dining. They may have a good understanding of things but it doesn’t mean they are experts.
S&C has come a long long way since Swasey’s day. Back then, guys who simply worked harder usually saw better results. Motivational coaches were just as successful as legit experts on functional strength movements and injury prevention. That is typically not the case any longer. Science and performance tracking is cutting edge today. I worked out with powerlifters and bodybuilders in college. We puked on leg days. Our hands bled from deadlifts. These guys looked the part and ran ridiculously hard workouts that made people grow but some had **** form and taught that **** form, leading to one guy developing a back problem years later. So yes, everyone may have raved about them in the moment but it doesn’t mean they were truly qualified.
I respect Dee, so this is not me questioning his view of people. He’s one of a short list of guys around here i appreciate views and feedback from. I just have a different view of S&C bc my career has been spent in the science and medical field, not just from a casual fan standpoint.
swasey wasn't perfect but he wasn't the reason kids weren't being feed.We were getting our *** pushed around late Coker, Shannon, and Golden. Stop making excuses. I'll give Swasey his due in regards to certain pieces of his program. However, his program sucked when it came to the strength part.

this program fell apart when butch left. Coker was basically an absentee coach. kids and assistants were running the show.So I guess we went on a hunger strike after Moffit left

I didnt give him a pass but there are certain things out of a s&c coaches control.I agree with that statement. However, don't believe in giving a Swasey as pass for his short comings.

I was at some events with both teams leading up to that game. We looked tiny in street clothes compared to LSU.Swasey was good for agility and speed. Once all the players Moffitt had most the influence over left we started getting our *** bullied up front on both lines of scrimmage. That 2005 Peach Bowl against LSU started our down fall.

I couldn't have said it better myself....."Oh wait"....this program fell apart when butch left. Coker was basically an absentee coach. kids and assistants were running the show.
Yeah you're right...it's been so much better without him, as the MTSU's and FIU's of the world pushed our sh*t in....**** yeah we did. I don't understand why in the **** there's a small group on here that still defend Swasey. The biggest myth was NFL guys only coming to South Florida because they wanted to train with him. Which is bull****. Sure there were some wanted to get their bodies more agile and build up speed which is what Swasey was good at, but a lot of them came back because of the weather and location. Lets keep it one hundred. I was relieved when they finally let his *** go. It was like a cloud over the program had finally been lifted.

The down fall started far before that. Allowing the players to dictate who the next HC should be was issue #1. Coker had no business being the HC. The 2005 peach bowl & unjustified firings of Soldy, Art & Vernon put the nail in the coffin.Swasey was good for agility and speed. Those three coaches were the heart and soul. He lost the team.. Which led to multiple arrests, multiple shootings, one of the players murdering one of his teammates & the FIU brawl. We’ve never recovered from an 11 month span between DEC 2005-NOV 2006.
