A quick update after talking to some people

I promise this is not a i told u so post because i was all in on mario coming too. But shortly after hearing interviews and people talking about how it all went down the red flags where very clear to me.

After the last almost 20 years of bad coaching hires and incompetence from the administrators, and fresh off of not doing a real coaching search and hiring manny diaz because of relationships he has with people connected…We literally go out again and do the exact same ****????? Even tho mario is more proven than manny HOW can u not do a real coaching search this time??? THIS SAME WAY OF THINKING HAS BURNT US FOR 20 YEARS. So now they have a more proven coach that they have relationships and more money into the program they think its gonna just be all good now huh???

Rudy Fernandez literally said on a podcast after hiring rad and mario he had two names at the start of the process and was gonna go all in for them. So after 20 years we didn’t learn anything, we literally just went with guys that we have past connections with but just give them money this time like that solves it all. And then we hear the people with the money were reportedly saying they would only commit the money if the coach is mario??? Thats literally amateur **** man we are one of the greatest programs u should be willing to commit money to anyone if your goal is for us to succeed.

I hate long posts but i had to rant lol, and im still gonna give mario time to fix ****..Because wtf else am i gonna do lol
They been trying to get the guy for over 10 years.

The whole school is about nepotism.

When the coaching search start he probably was around 3 or 4th on my list....but i knew he was #1 in their hearts.

All this problems right now is because of....twitter fingers....and bloggers/youtubers/ site ppl.....claiming whales and were getting everyone.

Im not in panic mode ....BECAUSE i never believed it...still aint because as long as we have an above avg class an address needs im a PORTAL GUY...when the HC are Mario/Manny Diaz types who have deficiencies.

Save some of that NIL money to entice guys in the portal. Im still a bit confused as to why they aint pay good money to poach a qb in waiting behind TVD.

Barney doesnt move the needle for me and like i said in another post....pivot to Ricdarius Farmer out of Cocoa. The real real hurt would be Scott...because could be a sign of things to come on that DL...and i was already against taking the other nepotism kid from Columbus with all the DL talent available.

That’s a question for Mario himself, not me. I don’t like being exposed to all of this “negativity” even though most of it is reality based. I wish Mario could receive it directly because he deserves to be exposed to it. A person shouldn’t need to be doubted and suck before being motivated, I actually hate that new mindstate. In my 30+ years as Canes fan, when things get resoundingly bad like this, it’s usually something good (news) on the horizon or the football program responds. It’s all about sustaining that response and making that sense of urgency part of the culture.

I want Mario to feel pressured and not complacent. He needs to coach, scheme and gameplan like his hair is on fire. That “this will take time” stuff is the expectation for the fans, it’s not the expectation for him.

No Mario needs to worry about one thing…recruiting and leave the real coaching and game planning to the coordinators cause after last years abomination I don’t trust Mario to do anything when it comes to actually doing anything that will win games.

There were plenty of them for the taking this offseason too. But there will also be plenty of them looking for playing time this offseason as well. It's the one position i'm not really worried about from a HS recruiting aspect because there are going to be notable names at QB in the portal every offseason.

People ask me why I’ve changed.

“What’s happened to you?” they ask. “I hope you’re ok.”

I don’t think many people have properly digested how bad last year was, on and off the field. I’ve said this before: what Miami fans think of last year is utterly irrelevant. This is what last year looked like to everyone else:

- TVD went from a possible top 10 pick to almost unplayable. He was broken, slowly and relentlessly, over the course of a season.
- Confirmed the belief that Mario Cristobal is not friendly to QBs, or offensive talent in general.
- Miami has a new floor as a program. Even in mediocrity, Miami was competitive more often than not. Not anymore.
- Miami has almost no talent defensively.
- Even Mario and Mirabal can’t make this offensive line work.
- Miami has fallen behind Norvell and FSU.

Your opinion of whether or not those things are true is irrelevant. Some of y’all have been lying to yourselves about how bad last year was. 2022 was one of the worst versions of 5-7 that I’ve ever seen, and I blame Mario 100% for it. His stubbornness on offensive coordinator hiring (and his terrible choice for DC), doomed the team. For the first time since I was a teenager, I did not plan my weekends around Miami football, because they were unwatchable. And unfortunately for Mario, they were on television every single week.

Nothing is wrong with me, well, no more than anyone else. I am a reasonable skeptic with this program, because you are what your record says you are. The recruiting struggles this season are not surprising to me in the least.

Ya…no matter what 45-3 is etched in kids' heads…Then the Pitt massacre at home?

CMC will get us 2-3 big talents for sure…But anyone else who is committing to UM is doing so because of NIL. And I have no idea where that is right now, some here may.

Last year I was pretty negative on the offense at this time. From the receivers dropping balls and not picking up the scheme to the Ol being one injury away from being a **** show. This year I feel much better about things. From the OL being bigger / deeper , skill players being more spread out with guys being put in position to succeed and just a more mature group. On top of that being much more talented, which always helps. Dawson is the complete opposite of Gattis , schematically , coaching style and personality wise. Tbh the entire staff is total 180.
This is honestly the most refreshing thing to hear. The coaching hires and quick firings hurt us more than on-field results, or at least as much. Mario shows improvement and we win 9-10 games some of these losses turn into bigger wins.

I think I’ve gained enough credibility of being pretty unbiased with staffs / coaches. Last season I was one of the few that went at Mario and the offense after a couple games. I lambasted him pretty good and deservingly so. While others with YT channels / writers would refuse to do it and make excuses and blame only the players. Only because they don’t want to lose access.

Fact is Mario helped create a narrative about himself and it’s up to him to change it. To his credit bringing in Dawson shows he’s open to trying to change things.
He gotta let him coach it though. Meaning don’t try to put your fingerprints on it. Since you’re not an
X and O guy.

Every time we have a lame duck coach there are excuses up the *** on why we fail. Now it’s we need to win to recruit better.
We have a mediocre (if we are being VERY kind) WR coach and probably are broke again with a pretty terrible gameday coach who has a boner for archaic systems who hired an OC who fell on his face the only time he was away from Dana.
Yeah, same old same old

If TVD gets hurt this szn the sh*t is gonna hit the fan. I meant for a guy this year..who will get the starting spot. But around November the recruitind department guys need to have a qb list for the portal going.

Without NIL, Cristobal serves no purpose. He’ll recruit as well as Larry Coker did with wide receivers and quarterbacks in 2004-2006.

Either fund it or shut it down.
Right. Without recruiting, Mario is an $8mil year corch. If he is not able to recruit at an elite level, we are not going to win. And when I say elite, I mean at the top 3-5 mark. That’s what he was brought in to do. Now we are sitting with double digit low ranked 3 stars and eroding confidence in our ability to close. People need to understand that Mario’s ability to make us competitive is directly tied to his recruiting, thus the freak out

Some of you need to get a grip. Recruiting definitely isn't for the faint of heart. All you boyz on suicide watch need to relax. Kids don't sign in July. We're 4 months away from the first signing period and over 6 months away from national signing day. Let's let this **** play out before we go into full mope mode.

Thread 'Why Waiting for Blue Chips is a Dangerous Game'
https://www.canesinsight.com/threads/why-waiting-for-blue-chips-is-a-dangerous-game.184988/

Here’s why the summer matters. It’s not end-all-be-all, but with the recruiting game changing and more kids than ever committing in the summer, this is why July is important. Over 82% of summer commits stick, and I think if my memory serves correctly, there were less than 100 top 450 kids that remained uncommitted past September 1st (don’t have my laptop in front of me). Apologies since it’s a long post.
I don't see a long post, I see a well-reasoned one with data.

Sure, it matters to some extent, but in our instance, our major influence is getting Ws. Miami winning is different from other colleges winning.

UM paid Mario a substantial amount of money to uplift UM not set back like HE did, also UM need to immediately start overpaying for the best assistant coaches available to overcome Mario’s lack of everything during the regular season.
