A name to keep an eye on

I thought Bell played pretty good personally lol he’d get beat here and there and it stuck out. Carpenter getting beat probably resulted in Cam rolling out and still making a play.
My question with PFF (which I don’t give much credence to) who gets the blame if the qb leaves the pocket early , holds on to the ball too long resulting in negative plays and sacks ? Because Cam did that a lot. Even at WSU

Well, if the ACC refs wouldn't call Bell for holding whenever he pancaked a tiny DL, it would have been better...

Someone fill me in. If Ryan Rodriguez was good enough to start the year at left guard, but is naturally a center, is there a reason that Rodriguez can’t be the center next year?

I’m all for upgrades, but if NIL money going around is limited is this better directed elsewhere?

Eyes said he was fine watching games but he graded very poorly and I had a scout for the Ravens tell me he was the weak link of our entire offense.
He was limited on his ability to get lateral and to the second level. If you felt like we were just off on some of our creases or screen plays from last year, it was the reason. I noticed it once we got to ACC play. Last year Lee would be flying

They have a threshold for how long you sustain your block before you get penalized. I think it’s like 3-4 seconds. Anything after that, you may be credited with the sack, but it goes down as an effective rep on their grade.

I have a friend that does some grading for FCS schools in Tennessee, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Georgia. I can ask what the threshold is. He’s an elementary school gym teacher lol but he did play D1 football.

Basically they’re taking an educated guess at the assignment and then grading what it looks like you’re trying to do and how effective it was.

PFF certainly isn’t everything. But it’s a good starting point.

PFF releases their grades way too quickly imo it’s pretty obvious how much of it is reliant on AI

Not against that or anything but it’s just a grain of salt thing

It’s what I would call “quick and dirty” analysis.

They get paid more if their grade is out within a certain timeframe after the game or after the film is issued to the person grading.

Makes sense. There’s always a give and take when it comes to “scaling”

PFF has become massive and you’ve got to incorporate AI to do it to that level and like you’re saying, speed

You’ll lose some of the substance that way. I’ll stop there I’m in ECom and this stuff all goes off the rails

Correct. I only really take stock in eye popping good grades or alarming bad grades

80+ or -65

65-79 you probably need to watch to make your own assumptions. Scheme, opponents, coaching, and quality of your team factors a lot into it. But there’s no way to overlook the very good and very bad. Those are what they are.

Carpenter spent a lot of time sub 65 I believe
