Goal post being moved???
Curious as to why? He's been one of the worst QBs in college football this year. 122nd/127 in EPA/dropbackFor sure. Wouldn’t mind picking up Arnold if that happens and what the rest of the QB board looks like in a month.
Not even closeNo, not a "fan" issue, its a math issue. Rumor i believe was samson was getting 500K a year (or whatever huge amount). So for 2 years, we've now paid $1M total to him and he's done nothing. Cant blame him for injury year 1, but still we put up $1M. The real question is what else could we have done with that $1M... And while i dont expect this, its very possible he realizes he doesnt have a starting spot next year and transfers out. Poof your $1M investment now gone to someone else.
Well aware you'll always have your hits and misses in crooting but overpaying for some of these 5 stars is a killer when you could get yourself an instant impact proven portal guy. we got super lucky cormani peaced to colorado. Woulda been another $1M+ wasted.... Think about it
Forget getting a QB close to Ward. Getting Ward was lightning in a bottle and we can't expect that every year. Focus on naturally gifted passers who are intelligent and great leaders. Mateer is a great prospect. He's still a bit raw but I would take him. Also look at guys like Behren Morton(Texas Tech) and Brendan Sorsby(Cincinnati). The big question with those 2 is if they want to hit the portal. Miss me with this talk of Mendoza and Bailey.I can’t believe I omitted him, thought I typed it. 100%.
But to everyone saying this portal class was “good”, this same caliber class would get us maybe 8 wins without Ward.
Personally, there’s no QB close to Ward that’s expected to hit the portal. Mateer isn’t on his level. He’s good, just not 1st rounder.
Portal class and evals need to be even better in 2025.
yep, they commit way earlier now, our success this year is good for 2026, 2027 recruits. They are trying to get flips. It’s always harder t flip guys. They got Lowe and seems like they will flip alford. You have to land these guys in the summer now as kids don’t seem to wait like they used too
I love the thought but I have a hard time believing that Jeremiah Smith would leave OSU after this year. It would be different if Cam had 2 years left. I would be over the moon if he did come home but I just don't think that's realistic.IF (big if) this means something like Smith is coming home, we can pass on any more high school WRs. But, I like the thrill of landing high school superstars better than signing a good starter from Western Michigan even if he starts right away.
Because people see former five star and think that makes them elite. Arnold is trash and we are screwed if we settle for a non throwing dumpster scrap. I believe the staff is smarter than the typical CIS mouthbreather so I’m not panicking.Curious as to why? He's been one of the worst QBs in college football this year. 122nd/127 in EPA/dropback
That doesn’t sound right to me. We value production over potential in the portal. Granted, would be nice to have guys from the portal for more than one yearWell 1murhurricane did mention yesterday that miami turned down some kids that would have landed us in the 5-7 range because they thought they could get better ROI in the portal.Dmoney has also said they are going after younger portal targets with multiple years to play. We'll see how this plays out soon.

We had the number four class last year. So on that, you’re wrong. I believe we’ll have a top three class next year as well.I don't think we'll ever finish like top 4 recruiting HS unless maybe South Florida is extremely loaded one year. I think 6-8 is where our realistic target should be to finish yearly with like 20-25 out of HS and then another 7-10 out of the portal yearly.
- Gotta hit on QB in the portal again.
- Next year I think the staff is going to go much harder at trying to lock guys in over the Summer before the season starts. It's a lot easier to turn in a big late season recruiting push when you don't have playoffs on the line. And I think we are seeing that impact now.
So I think we probably finish 7th or 8 this year?
- Hopefully flip one top WR
- Might lose one more low ranked OLine and get a higher ranked guy?
- We probably get 1 flip at DLine most likely Jarquez Carter, but wouldn't be surprised if its like Grady/Norris/Mathis/etc
- LB I think we definitely getting at least 1 of Alford or Wiley, but I think we land both.
- CB I think we land one of Pickett/Hanks/Anding - most likely Pickett and keep all our current DBs.
Have we figured out what exactly the "signees" are signing next week, now that we don't have NLI's anymore?
I wish we got brooks instead but he’s option 1 at loserville. No telling what he would’ve been here. And we wanted a speed guyBrown has had some really good YAC yards breaking tackles lately. Tough yards after there were some effort questions
Definitely been a solid edition though no clue what the NIL was
Are we only in on flips? Wiley being only uncommitted targetCurious who do you guys think we close on?
Where do certain targets go if not Miami?
And lastly, where do we finish (for now, until February is finalized)?
For frame of reference, as of today:
12th-ranked class at 249.34, 23 commits
13th in average rating per recruit at 89.96
Thanks. Haven't seen him play since he went back in the lineup. Excluding the Maine game, he's been sacked 20 times with just 102 attempts over the 4 SEC games. Is Okie's offensive line that bad or does he just lack pocket awareness? Wild for a guy that athletic to get sacked as much as he has.He sucked before getting benched.Once he got the job back hes been over 70% completion, 0 ints and is throwing the ball well. he's not really forcing throws/going for homeruns so its a contrast from Ward for sure when watching their games. They also fired their OC which has helped him as well.
Not at all saying he would be my first choice or 5th choice at QB, but Miami could do worse.
CIS complain? What would make you say that? Here’s what’s gonna happen. We will land a big time kid we didn’t think we would. We will lose a battle that will be upsetting. And we will close with Alford. Wiley will go elsewhere. Even if we finish 10-12 I expect the portal to be used heavily this year. We need a QB, DBs with experience, a receiver, and DT badly. I expect fans to complain no matter what.
I’m make it perfectly clear. No effing way Jeremiah Smith flips to this school unless we have a Talent at QB who is going to make him look good and help his NFL film.
People like him are interested in getting First Round Top 3 Pick Contract Money. If we don't have a decent successor to Ward, not some kid like Luke who's riding around on training wheels (I know he's good, and I know Emory is good right now, but neither of them are in the same star system as Ward), you're not flipping Smith from OSU.
