8 Days Out From December 4th

I’m guessing Auburn and Florida are blowing their wads now so they can sell hope since their seasons aren’t great……

Plus most legit portal guys are looking for money AND a chance for the playoffs, basically eliminating Auburn and Florida

I still would rather see Miami snag top 100 HS recruits, but I get it, better ROI to spend on instant impact portal guys

Auburn I imagine will be ready to break the bank for a portal qb. Oregon, Bama, Oklahoma will also all be competing against us for a qb.

I don’t know if OU will be in the QB market or not. Arnold had a sophomore slump but has flashed. Same with his backup who’s a true freshman.

Yes we will have some competition for sure.

Oregon will likely be collecting on their Dante Moore investment I think. Oklahoma will need to overpay after their ****** 2024 season

It’ll be real interesting to see what happens for Miami in their pursuit of a portal QB shoukd Dawson cash in on the Cam Ward success and take a HC job elsewhere. Timing wise it definitely makes backfilling an OC tricky

The other thing about strictly focusing on the portal by the way…

Who spent big money on the portal last season? Us, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas, Ole Miss. Maybe you can include USC in there but eh, not on the same level.

This portal cycle, you have to add a ton of bag-heavy teams to the list.

Auburn and Oklahoma undoubtedly will go all in for success. Add Florida. Add LSU because the Kelly HS recruiting is blowing up in his face. Add Michigan. Add Alabama. Add Texas A&M. Heck, even FSU will be desperate. Georgia will always be intrigued. You can keep teams like ND and Tennessee around as they’re always good for a few high prized portal guys.

This will really put “recruiting” to the test. What I mean by that is it’s going to be primarily centered around $$$. In reality, it’s going to be a bag war to bring in all the positions you guys think we need - QB, WR1, CBs out the wazoo, safeties, DL, etc.

I don’t doubt our bags, but I do think it’s going to be a lot more difficult to reload than people are making it out to be.
You have said the same thing going on 3 years now lol

NIL has leveled the playing field, its clear as day.....if the $$$ is close mfers in the portal will be choosing to go to coral gables over Oklahoma and Auburn or these backwoods cities.

You also arent factoring the connections.....a top portal kid could be from...Florida and may want to return home. Could be a kid previously we recruited or had connections to ...(thats how downs left bama for osu) Nowwwww with what we did with Cam Ward we have that to show to a QB int he portal.

Miami has kind of lead the way int he portal since Manny i dont know why our fans dont embrace it lol

To me its about evaluations in the portal and fit more so than worrying about who else will be in the portal competing with us. You acting like we arent going head to head with all these teams for high school kids any way.

This is what I said in another thread. "Here's what nobody wants to hear. Mario aint a top 1-3 recruiter. Hes a top 5-8 at his best and 9-12 if some players fall through the crack. The sky isn't falling and this is just one of those classes. He rebounds for a big 2026 IMO."

What do you guys think? Am I an idiot with that assessment?
Yes

Nobody on this site saw Hayden Lowe coming..that guy literally confirmed his commitment to USC 24hrs before flipping to us. For anyone to think there isnt alot of action going on behind the scenes..you at this point just want to complain and are bored at home because you have the week off for Thanksgiving. Go to the cigar bar or better yet go to the strip club for $5 lunch. lol.
You just need that Canes Connection info brother

@DMoney had him locked in to our class for weeks

I’m not saying they’re wrong, but it’s hypocritical for sure…especially after making fun of teams like FSU and Ole Miss.

I don't think we'll ever finish like top 4 recruiting HS unless maybe South Florida is extremely loaded one year. I think 6-8 is where our realistic target should be to finish yearly with like 20-25 out of HS and then another 7-10 out of the portal yearly.

- Gotta hit on QB in the portal again.
- Next year I think the staff is going to go much harder at trying to lock guys in over the Summer before the season starts. It's a lot easier to turn in a big late season recruiting push when you don't have playoffs on the line. And I think we are seeing that impact now.

So I think we probably finish 7th or 8 this year?
- Hopefully flip one top WR
- Might lose one more low ranked OLine and get a higher ranked guy?
- We probably get 1 flip at DLine most likely Jarquez Carter, but wouldn't be surprised if its like Grady/Norris/Mathis/etc
- LB I think we definitely getting at least 1 of Alford or Wiley, but I think we land both.
- CB I think we land one of Pickett/Hanks/Anding - most likely Pickett and keep all our current DBs.

We finished 4th last year after going 7-6.We were holding on to Cormani away from another top 4 in 23 after going 5-7.It makes no sense for us to have so little buzz 10 days from NSD beign 10-1 and a chance at the conference ****le and playoffs.

They are trying to get flips. It’s always harder t flip guys. They got Lowe and seems like they will flip alford. You have to land these guys in the summer now as kids don’t seem to wait like they used too

I think a lot of big teams haven’t fully utilized the portal ie Michigan. Also keep an eye on IU. They’re looking to capitalize on this year and have a lot of $$$ and starting to invest. Going to be looking to replace Rourke.
