25-26 Transfers

We had one of the first coaching openings...

We hired an assistant coach before almost anyone...

Yet here we sit...can't even hire a HS coach onto our staff...no HS verbals announced...no Portal verbals announced...

But we sure as **** have the Jai Lucas White Knight Crew, constantly telling us about John Lucas and AAU connections and all the NBA players posting about Jai on social media and how every single other candidate with head coaching experience sucked and on and on and on....

This is the concern I had about Jai Lucas. That he would be just as bad a head coach as his father was.
Going to pin this one for future comedy

Yea I mean, we should have had the staff built in January with a full roster of players. Huge failure.
You are insufferable, man. We were the first P4 school to make a HC hire (that I know of at least). It's not unrealistic to expect us to be ahead of some of these other schools that are currently running laps around us.

The schools 'running laps around us' didn't just go 7-24 overall this past year or 9-31 in conference play over the past two years. Wake up.

We also have recent high level success (E8, F4) to point to just prior to that. So yeah, while the program is coming out of its lowest point arguably in 30 years, it was sky high just before that. And in today's NIL/portal age, results can be flipped around immediately (see Louisville).

Again, I don't think it is unreasonable to have expected a little more of the roster and staff be filled out by now. Maybe Lucas is being extra selective based on character, style of play, etc. Who knows. The jury is obviously still out.

Riiiiight.

Players are hesitating to sign million-dollar NIL deals with us because we lost a few extra games.

Riiiiiight.

Cough, cough, LOUISVILLE...

More Jai-slurping excuses...

Louisville is a much more storied program than we are, with decades of success. We've had a handful of seasons of success spread over about 30 years. Impossible to compare.

Uhh maybe because he is currently coaching in the Chipotle Nationals to cement Columbus’ status as the best team in country :kypowcc:

We hired Jai Lucas away from a FINAL FOUR TEAM mid-season.

And yet we can't hire away a "Chipotle Nationals" high school coach.

The hilarious excuse-making continues unabated...

The poster who wrote on and on about the importance of head coaching experience being different than assistant coaching is now upset that: said HS coach could not lure away Duke legacy recruits and that said HS coach isn’t abandoning his team in the postseason for an assistant coach position a week before his season ends.

Lucas left in the postseason. IMO, Moran and Lucas sitting together at the Miami Heat game seemed like a clear confirmation-signal to transfers, recruits, and the basketball world at large that Moran will be leaving Columbus to work with Lucas at UMiami.

This is not some secret hire, everyone knows Moran is joining the staff at UM

Reneau likes to bang down low(pause) has solid finesse. Can hit the occasional 3. decent passing...a little slow and prodding...has a nice little baby hook. He's a good complimentary piece..need another everything.
