2025 NFL Pro Day. Monday 3/24

I know Dorsett was up there. Did Artie Burns run well? I think he was low 4.4 but we had a lot of 4.4 range guys... Stevenson as well I think was in the 4.4 range, Mike Jackson was; Homer 4.4; Redwine 4.4; Berrios 4.4; JT4 4.4; Coley was 4.4; Corn Elder 4.4

Other good times, Mallory was a 4.52; Ivey was a 4.6; Jaelen Phillis was a 4.52; I think Adrian Colbert ran like a 4.25 at the pro day. But yeah that blistering 4.3 low 4.4 speed has not been around Miami in some time.

Mallory may be a decent comp in terms of general comparisons. Hurt a lot, more of a receiving TE that ran routes but I do think Arroyo is a much MUCH better blocker. Lookin at their draft profiles:

Mallory: 6'4 1/2; 239 lbs, 32 1/4 arms and 9 3/8 hand. Prospect grade of 5.8; 4.54 40; 1.59 10 yd split, 36 inch vert, 20 on the bench 75 athletic score;

Arroyo: 6'5; 250 lbs; 33 inch arms; 10 inch hand; prospect grade of 6.24, 22 reps on the bench, 85 athletic score.

Obviously Mallory went in the 5th round so I think that aligns with most of our day 2 projections for Arroyo.
I thought Mallory was a good player here but this is where the numbers get tricky. Arroyo is more Jimmy Graham than Mallory. The way Arroyo moves on the field is significantly more athletic than Mallory was. Mallory’s hands got a lot better but Arroyo catches the ball better as well

Crazy how long ago for those names. This entire era of slow football players has been forgettable.

Landry ran a 4.77 at the combine, then ran a 4.51 at his pro day

Hunter Renfrow ran a 4.59 at the combine

Cephus ran a 4.73 at the combine then a 4.56 at his pro day

U don’t see 4.8 40’s at pro days, & unfortunately X didn’t run at the combine, & maybe he knew his time would be bad so he held out for his pro day. A 4.8 hand timed 40 is really a 4.9-5.0

Bingo and that is lost on some. as others have said, if he had been training at 4.8s the past few months, the trainer/agent should have done all they could to prevent him from running the 40. Make something up, but don't throw prudence to the wind at the risk of his $$$$. Those in his camp did not advise him well.

sitting out the bowl game and a 4.8 forty is not a good look.

NGL I thought he looked pretty slow this year and I don’t think that NFL teams will see anything that counters his 40 times on the GPS. Speed was never his game. What I appreciate was that he was a master technician given his limitations. Extremely efficient, developed very strong hands and play strength to win tough catches and break tackles. Necessary when you can’t consistently separate on routine routes or run away from defenders. Got schemed open a lot but always reliable. Watched this year’s highlights and you don’t see a gear that makes you question the 40 times.

Kid played his *** off for us, wish him nothing but the best, hope he make a team.

Well if X gets drafted from what I've heard he'd be the first wide receiver at that height with that slow of 40 time to be drafted ever. Hopefully he can make history if thats true but I'm not holding my breath
