2024 Race to 300

I might do these for each position group, but…

Updated DB Commits
Ryan Mack - ⭐⭐⭐️ .8858, 50th safety
**Cameron Pruitt - ⭐⭐⭐️ .8859, 49 Safety
Isaiah Thomas - ⭐⭐⭐️, .8825, 57th safety
Dylan Day - ⭐⭐⭐️, .8769, 66th safety
Romanas Frederique - ⭐⭐⭐️, .86268, 82nd CB

Projected
Zaquan Patterson - ⭐⭐⭐⭐️, 96.1231, 4th safety

2024 DB avg current rank: .872
2024 DB avg projected rank: .894
2023 DB avg prospect rank: .933
2022 DB avg prospect rank: .917
2021 DB avg prospect rank: .917
2020 DB avg prospect rank: .900
2019 DB avg prospect rank: .916
2018 DB avg prospect rank: .907
2017 DB avg prospect rank: .896
2016 DB avg prospect rank: .859

Even with Zaquan, this will be our worst DB class since 2016, which was after Golden was fired. Idk if it’s Addae, 5-7, Guidry being a lower level guy…idk. But we have a returning all American and just put two DBs in the league and we are putting this together…it’s tough. Anyone saying otherwise is in spin mode. We have one guy in the top 50 for his position and he’s likely a linebacker…
This is pretty damning to be honest

None of this matters. It's all about the development ability of the staff. You get these guys drafted and we look like genius. Yeah we had better db classes and please tell me how that has turned out?

Actually statistically, it does matter it’s already been proven. It doesn’t mean That developing players isn’t important, but as much as people want to deny star rankings for all the obvious flaws, the data doesn’t lie in this case

what I meant was, speaking on how we have recruited in the past, SPECIFICALLY at the db position.... yeah it doesn't matter. Our development has been overall trash at that position regardless of the star rankings.

The issue is evaluations and development are inextricably linked, since a huge part of the evaluation equation is determining how the player will develop.

How hard does the kid work? How serious is he about football? How long has he been playing football? Does he possess football intelligence? How well does he learn technique? Is he at/near his physical/athletic ceiling? Is he competitive? Is he a system fit? What projects as his best position and is he willing to play there? Are there character concerns?

That's all part of the evaluation, and it all impacts player development. And that development is not solely on the staff, either. Too many on this board think of "development" as something that begins once a kid walks onto Greentree and which is solely on the staff.

That said, at DB we have certainly done less with more for a good while now. It seems every staff we've had over the last 20 years has needed to be better at evaluating which recruits will develop (and how they will develop), putting a plan together to get them there, and then executing the plan.

I can see 4 of those becoming 4 stars this season

How this class develops is going to be super interesting.

I'm up at 4 a.m 7 days a week jogging 3-4 miles....you should try it.

I finally ran 4 miles today after coming off surgery a year and an half ago. At my age it’s friggin hard to come back. I won’t say I was miserable on the run. But reconditions myself to get to this point was ****. Kudos to you sir.
