2024 Race to 300

Can we change the thread title to “The race to 265”?
I know your busting balls but our “number” I thought, and still think, we’ll be around is 270-280 once the class is complete.
Given the ‘23 season a 7th-12th ranking works for me. Hopefully a surprise or two gets us closer to 7th.

Only 5 teams in the last 2 years have single-digit finishes (OU and Texas).
The usual top-3 are the only ones with 3 straight.

I swear half this fan base (at least on CIS) is here to mock and troll.

I’ve said this for years. I’d be willing to bet @Andrew could dig up some metrics that would show that “bad” **** RE: this program generates at least as much engagement as positivity. I rarely notice who is posting what but I do occasionally see a lot of folks hammering the same **** over and over in threads that are negative and then don’t seem to be too vocal when good things happen.

A shrink could have a field day with this place. Negative people embrace negativity, misery loves company, etc etc

And it would take that shrink about 10 min to figure out that the root of the problem is religiously following a team that has sucked for 20 years and then move on to the scarier part and that is the ones that continue to stay overly positive are the really ****ed up ones.

I would say 2% of this board is “overly positive”, 5% are realistic to optimistic and 93% are 14 year old menstruating girls with a double-digit IQ.

I guess people handle adverse situations differently, but I can’t relate to some of the comments.
The “LOL” after a recruiting miss is one (of more than a few) that baffles me.
Not mad, or bothered…really just baffled.

The hammerers…man, we know who you are. We get it.
Point taken the first 55 times you posted about it.

How about the conclusion drawers?, smh.
Reminds me of the movie Animal House…where the girl is a day late for her period and she’s “already decided to have the baby”.

Agree, but are there any of those left?
I believe they’’ve been declared “extinct” after last season.

Nah, honestly I’m pretty optimistic heading into this season. We’ve flipped almost the entire roster + coordinators. The schedule really isn’t that hard in order to win 8-9 games. We get two of our hardest opponents at home. Starting O-line on paper should be a top two unit in the ACC and a top 20 unit nationally. We crap on TVD but if Bama wanted him, there’s still something there…just have to protect him. RB room is deep and talented af, plenty of pass-catching weapons when considering WR and TE. D-line is pretty versatile and Guidry has a ton of chess pieces to confuse opposing offenses.

Really there’s no excuses to not win 8+ games unless there are drastic injuries.

happens when the team you love is a disgrace for 20 years. id rather miserable people then quitters. 90% of people here are dying for a winner again. maybe higher then that.

We don’t win 8-9 this season, I will know Mario isn’t the guy for the job. At that point I think I just walk away. I was basically done with what transpired with Manny but got pulled back in. I expect to win 8-9 but not doing so would be a massive failure. Like you said, the roster is flipped and we have more than enough talent to compete in the ****** ACC.

I really do think the O-line play will vault this team into that 8-9 range alone. First off, the Zion news is huge. He’s versatile and was our best lineman pre-injury. Matt Lee is the best center in the country and Cohen is a phenomenal pass protector. Top tier.

Mauigoa is the question mark for me but I think we all know he’s going to be special. Someone not being talked enough about - Anez Cooper. That dude is a straight up DOG. He was arguably our best lineman late in the season as a young pup. He’s got a mean streak that’s been missing and I can’t wait to see the improvements he’s made.

Very obvious points but that drastic of an increase in line play will
1. Allow TVD to properly go through his progressions instead of staring down receivers or already pre-determining where he’s going to have to roll out to in order to avoid pressure.

2. Open up holes in the run game where instead of Parrish scratching and clawing for 5 yards, we can hopefully break off more chunk plays of 15-20. Mauigoa’s speed to get on the edge for outside runs will be instrumental in this regard.

We also have senior citizen McCormick to block in the run game or help out in pass pro, which will help.

Call it kool-aid if you want, but the recipe is there.

TVD is the biggest question mark to me. He was good for 6 games here in his career. I get Gattis was awful but he looked broken to me. Only going to go as far as he'll take us. I'm in wait n see mode on that.

Recipe is 100% there, the question is whether we can execute.

I'm right with you.
Those expectations are reasonable, achievable and not overly optimistic...
which I think was the group @bobbydigius was referring to.

Anyone tried to do a class calculation lately, the new system makes it impossible for anyone even UGA to get to 300
