2023 NFL Combine & Miami Pro Day

Depends on the QB.

There’s varying factors that explain production, some QB’s put up huge numbers in College & can’t play a lick in the league. Correlation isn’t causation when it comes to QB’s.

Will Levis is every bit as mildly productive as Richardson, but he’s still touted as a top 3 pick, because he’s being scouted on his potential & not just his stats.

No doubt. But the farther you deviate production-wise, the longer a trip back home you have. What are your best examples of guys who were as erratic as Richardson, with his low completion % and 7/13 sub-200 yard games that became successful enough in the NFL to warrant a first round draft pick?

There’s going to be a couple of issues w/ Will, & this goes back to the Green Tree All American mantra.

Daniel Jeremiah said it best; when Will ran his 40 it surprised him that he had that in his bag b/c when he watched film, he played slower.

Will practices extremely well, but when a team put on the tape, it’s going to show a TE that should be a TE1 that often disappears. Also, his blocking or lack thereof was on display in one of the drills; just bad form & bad leg drive. I’m wondering if he skipped the bench due to minimizing any negative, & wanted to show his athleticism.

Regardless, I see Mallory as a 4th-5th round pick

I actually think Richardson, Hooker & Aidan O’Connell will do well in the league.
Im really high on AR, i think he has the highest potential of all the QBs. People forget this is his first full year of playing, he actually has some good traits as far as QB **** from the pocket. Accuracy is a huge concern of course but I think he’ll develop well

This QB class is solid, not great or anything. Alot of these player’s future depends on where they get drafted, really for all positions but especially QB.

I think if bryce was 6-1 he’d be a lock for franchise qb imo, he is special to me and what he did at bama can translate to the nfl but i just worry about his height. Besides brees QBs that short tend to abandon the MOF which is bryce’s best attribute , russ got away with it for a long time because of how defenses where played back then plus his out of structure play and him having crazy arm talent you see now with teams shifting to more fangio stuff he’s struggling because he doesn’t trust his eyes over the middle, kyler is similar but apparently he doesn’t care enough and has gotten hurt almost every year and bryce is smaller than him.

Stroud is probably the safest pick but i worry about his toughness and arm in the league. Accuracy/Ball placement wise he’s number one in this class. My comp has been Goff for him but he has athleticism just depends on if he uses it

Levis and Richardson are better than people think imo, they probably aren’t ready now but I could see them panning out. Both athletic with great arms, can they process fast enough at the next level? We’ll see

I look at if QBs do the little things that make qbs great, pre snap recognition, post snap processing, pocket presence, decision making,. AR has shown flashes of good in those areas especially pocker presence but he’s so raw that it gets lost in the film, levis makes alot more bonehead decisions but shown really good flashes too ..if i needed a qb desperately id bet on AR to pan out but not ready day 1 at all.. How good they are heavily depends on where they go

Feels like he had a lot of injury bad luck, which contributed to him playing slower but I pretty much agree with this. I think it’s possible that someone may like the athleticism and take him in R3 but this draft is so deep for TEs that it’s hard to say.

I have to admit, I kinda chuckled when I saw that Mallory had the fastest 40 time of any TE at the combine(4.5 seconds). I was thinking, where the heck was that speed at while he was here?
He showed it several times the last two years and it would make me perk up a bit. He moves well in a straight line once he gets up to speed.

He always has great straight line speed. Go back and watch his highschool tape.

It doesn’t have the wiggle or athleticism to make guys miss. Also he was injured his whole Miami career and played through injuries.

He probably rested and got his body right for this showcase. Good for him.

He still will struggle in a game though and can’t block. Hope he gets selected and make a roster. Seems like a good kid.

Not making excuses, but didn’t he have a shoulder injury? May have been why he skipped the lifting. Agree with everything you’ve noted.

AR played QB in 32 games in high school, throwing for over 4600 yards for a .532 completion percentage. He had 37 TD's and 19 INT's.

AR played QB in 22 games in college, throwing for over 3100 yards for a .547 completion percentage. He had 24 TD's and 15 INT's.

Almost mirror type production, low completion percentage and always a sub 2-1 TD/INT ratio.

He's hardly inexperienced. He's had plenty of opportunities to play and progress, including a couple of years being coached and tutored by Dan Mullen, the supposed QB whisperer, and he hasn't progressed much at all, he's still an inaccurate interception machine. This narrative that he's "raw" because he hasn't played much is ridiculous. It's an excuse. He's always been a QB, he's played plenty, and spent three years getting SEC coaching.

This just might be who he is. And incredible athlete with a big arm, who just isn't that good at the rest of what it takes to play QB.
