2017 RB Kyshaun Bryan Update -- Decommitted from USCe

Programs are put in this same situation almost every recruiting season, and some lucky kid who thought they would be on the outside looking in get the opportunity of a life time. I'm betting a kid like this comes on campus feeling fortunate but like he's go something to prove. His numbers are not elite, but they aren't pedestrian either. I love that he's a south Florida kid and another one from AH/STA.

When it comes to evaluating talent. I trust G4. He's been solid for many years now.

A 3* from the local powerhouse school is far from a terrible backup plan. Isn't this what most of y'all about? Not having a local 3* in the back pocket for plan B?
I couldn't agree more. Overall like D$ said should be lesson learned but this kid combined with Burns isn't a terrible fallback position. If there wasn't health issues w/ Burns I think most would feel much more positive with this cycle at the RB position. Add this kid and Truitt and let's get 11 wins! Then pound 2018 recruiting!! Remember programs trajectory is still pointing in upwards direction. Let's keep arrow pointing up!!

Because there Will always be a scholly for a kid like Cook. We are not hurting for available scholarships, when you factor in the EEs you could probably sign 28-30 in this class. We played well below the limit. I have no issue taking a flyer on a kid that at least plays rb. He was committed to an SEC school. It's not like we taking him from A D2 school or something

Vanderbilt is SEC too. And they're better than South Carolina. Looks like South Carolina probably retracted their offer anyway. Get out of this "if he's good enough for an sec toilet dweller then he's good enough for UM" mindset.

This dude is super average. Why clog up a roster spot for 4 years on an average RB? I'd rather rep someone already on the roster in case of emergency at RB if we lose Walton and Homer to injury.

My sentiments exactly. '18 is so packed.

I agree with above posters. Don't take a scrub just for depth purposes. In reality, that's not true depth at all. Bryan isn't good enough to play here.

Bryan can play here. Yall sleeping on his talent..had he not had to leave Ah ..this year would have been different. They looked out for Epstein at STA after he essentially missed a whole year. Bryan has some tools that we can use..he **** sure is faster than Yearby

Bryan becomes a 1000 yard rusher anywhere he goes and we look back in 3-4 years and say "why didn't we go after Bryan"...

Its like no one has ever seen a Canes recruiting cycle before. Every year we have "why didn't we go after..." (insert Dade, Broward, Palm Beach *** player that goes elsewhere and is good)...if you had a chance to go back and recruit and Matt Dayes from Cypress, even if he becomes a 2nd or 3rd back for the Canes, you're leaving a lot of production on the table to pass and take Gus Edwards from New York. The same goes for Branden Oliver, Dri Archer, James White, Terrance West, Travaris Cadet (and the list can go on of not even pros, but good to really good collegiate backs).

But this is the same mindset that fans have when they give Miami a pass for going well into the senior year of Devonta Freeman before heavily recruiting him. This is the type of **** you miss out on when you're busy ******* around with running backs from Maryland, New York, etc. The same can even be said for WR and DB, but that is a different argument for a different day.

IMO, Bryan has a low ceiling and a high floor. He is a one-cut-and-go runner who gets upfield in a hurry. His speed and burst are not a problem.

He's not a creative runner, which limits his upside, but he can get positive yards and fits with all the zone runs we call. If Brown doesn't trust his depth, I think it's a smart take.

One more thing- I don't believe in the "he's taking up a valuable scholly" argument. Clearly, we planned on taking two backs in this class. If we recruit better players in the future, he will go somewhere else to get carries. There are too many good players in South Florida to have depth issues. It's smart to bring in quality local guys to plug any unexpected holes.

Especially if it helps fill in pot holes on the bridge to STA

Exactly. In today's CFB landscape, a player is not a four year albatross...they will go elsewhere if they suck and get no playing time.

We need some depth, losing Gus hurt us.
We are 1 injury away from disaster.

I don't mind the pick up for the reasons DMoney listed. With Gus and Yearby leaving, we needed to take 2 RBs this cycle. Especially considering we don't know what we're going to get from Burns given his injury history the last year. If Burns can't be counted on this upcoming season, and an injury happens to either Homer or Walton - we're screwed. We'd be relying on Choc and a huge question mark in Burns at getting significant carries.

I agree with this sentiment but with the kid being from STA if we encourage him to transfer in the future its not a good look.
