2014 starting defense

I just don't see any way possible that we'll be able to stop the run. We might have a decent pash rush. But our DL is going to get its **** pushed in. We just don't have the personnel.

That is bull****. Chad is a ox. He is not skinny like McCord was at 218 relying on speed only. And he playe alot of DT for Booker T this yer. The staff fooled everyone into thinking there are zero Fr who can play against older players. Lies. Chad is not getting manhandled by anyone

They really don't. I have no clue why they don't implement a 4-3. It suits them a lot better it seems.

Maybe if they had Valentine it could work but I don't see it.
 
Chickillo scares me. He was part of the problem group last year, but he is a senior so you know Goldie is going to play him.
 
I see Chad starting as a freshman or 2 deep....see Carter taking Jenkins starting position and Hester getting major pt...Burns will start opposite Howard....the two Juco DT's will get major pt immediately and play well...AQM and Mccord will look like future first round pics...Grace will get major pt

Chad is not an ox, he's a slim and trim 240. That's not alot of weight for a DL who's 6'5".

He played DT in ****** HIGH SCHOOL, out of necessity, and he got pushed around a handful of times.

As of right now, he would get his *** kicked up and down the field by a starting D-1 offensive lineman if he had to anchor down and hold a gap.

Who's Chad gonna start over? AQM? Figs? McCord?
 
I'm at the point where I don't think it matters much who starts. That being said.....we are better by both addition and subtraction. There really aren't any excuses for dorito in 2014.

I would like to see Carter improve his abilities enough to get some significant playing time. I also am looking for Figs to have a monster breakout year.

Any chance Thomas ends up playing the majority of his snaps in a two point stance?

The only player we have with the size to be a nose is Wyche. Pierre, Moore, Heurtelou should not be lined up over the center trying to control the A-gaps.

Heurtelou is 322, sounds big to me

Why do people keep asking for Armbrister to be put in this lineup??? And how do people forget how good Gunther was at times even in a ****** scheme? Get real ppl

This ain't a bad defense. The front 3 won't offer you anything vs. the pass, but they are big enough to stop the run. Chick was 277 last year, could approach 290 this year, both Wyche and Huertelou are around 320 and Pierre is 300, prolly closer to 310 by August. AQM and McCord should be in the low 250s next year, very difficult for college RBs to block on the blitz. ILBs are big enough to take on the guards, both 245-250.

This should be a top 40-50 defense. They are starting to get the pieces. Thomas has to start at OLB cause he is 240. But a year and a half from now, he's prolly 270 and a 3-4 WDE. Moten after shirting will be SDE at around 300 and Jenkins is already 315 and strong as an Ox. With a year to shirt he could get even stronger and start t the nose. That is a badass front 3. They can rough up their linemen and demand doubles. 2015 front 3 will unlock the whole defense.

Well what do you know we got ourseves and that d coordinTor a lil bit of talent here the sun is starting to shine
 
I'm getting a little giddy thinking about AQM and Chad playing the Shayon Green position (Jack?) say what you want about this position dropping back into coverage sometimes but AQM did it a few times in the bowl game and made some plays.

I also think Fig can bring size and a ton of athletism in the middle and Grace will be an improved back up to DP

Need a pash rush from the DEs on 1st and 2nd down and DT remains the biggest question mark

Talent on defense will not prevent us from winning 10 games with this schedule.
 
Anybody who thinks Chad Thomas is a 3-4 DE does not know anything about football
