2013 UM DT Option Tevin Lawson (LSU Grey Shirt)

Not ashamed to admit I don't know what to think of him based on those highlights. Does anyone who knows what they're talking about think he'd be a good pickup?

Compared to which DT we DID sign though? lol

We didnt need to sign bodies at DT, we needed either serious difference makers or immediate contributors from the Juco level. If the coaches feel Lawson is either one of those, then cool. I do know though that LSU felt he was only worth a grey shirt, so there is that evidence that he may not be a difference maker.

What I've gotten from other boards is that LSU wasn't sure he'd qualify, so they asked him to greyshirt, thinking was in the bag (his HS isn't far from Baton Rouge). Instead, the kid didn't like it, got talked into delaying his signing by the Kentucky staff in order to visit up there, and now his recruiting has hit high gear with a bunch more schools (Ole Miss, Oklahoma, TCU, us) expressing interest.

I would think we're pretty attractive looking with zero DTs this past cycle

You'd think so, but that didn't stop Bostwick from going to Florida with their class of 5 DT's. To me, the depth chart thing works more with QBs, RBs, etc.. Think it's obvious that lots of the DTs we were recruiting this cycle just didn't give a **** that we need players bad at their position.

If you listened to Bostwick he basicallysid that Bryant Young coaching him will get him into the NFL but Jethro won't and that was the determining factor now at this point Tevin may see us as his best option

With no disrespect to Jaynard. Jetro has a much more impressive resume. He coached in nfl including mario williams. Was at usc and developed guys and took a basketball player in muhammed wilkerson and got him into the nfl as a productive player. Florida players dont do much in the pros.

I agree but Urbans guys have done well recently. Joe Haden,Brandon Spikes,Carlos Dunlap,Aaron Hernadez,Percy Harvin,Major Wright have been pretty good in the league.

(Gator fan) I dont think Bostwick chose Florida because of Young being a Hall of famer. I think Bostwick chose Florida because his family had a great relationship with Young and trusted the Florida staff more than the Miami staff.

Port Saint Lucie West Centennial defensive tackle Jay-nard Bostwick officially visited with both of his parents, who are heavily involved in his recruitment.

“It was nice, it was real nice,” Bostwick’s mother said of their trip to UF. “I got a nice tour of the school, I got a lot of information, all of my questions were answered and I think it’s a good fit for him.

“I just fed off of his feelings. He was very anxious to see the town. When we got there, he opened up a lot. I think he’s really comfortable there and that really matters to me.”

Bostwick’s high school coach, Ron Parker, said his four-star standout is closest to Florida’s coaches and their relationship may be the reason he chooses the Gators over Miami and Alabama. His mother shared that sentiment.

“I can honestly agree with him, and I understand why,” she said. “Miami was home and that’s where he’s from, and Alabama was enjoyable and a privilege to visit. But he has a different bond with the Gators I guess. (Defensive tackles coach) Bryant Young is a good guy. He’s just like Jay-nard. They share so many characteristics and they hit it off from the start, so that’s a big plus. He’s like an extension of me and my husband. I’m very, very comfortable with him.”
