#1 is a liability(the one on D)

Smith looks super slow. Injuries have ruined him. You see him on that kick return and also the fake punt. He is a liability.

That’s why I asked the question. There is no replacement as Popo has been ok but not worth unseating Kiko in my opinion

That sucks. I did not see Smith on those. He came in as a hybrid S/OLB and was fast as ****.

If he were the exact same player on a Manny team, everyone would have been pointing to him (and many other current starters) as an example of why Miami needs to hire a guy like Mario who can recruit. Somehow, the greatest recruiter in America managed to assemble the least athletic back seven in modern Miami history.
SOOO many guys playing out f position, just a rag tag db squad with no end in sight. We have multiple unplayable guys bank MAJOR minutes.. Think how crazy that is. Not an exaggeration either, multiple guys blowing tackles on same plays, cant even push wr out of bounds along sideline type ****.. it is terrible.

It's tough. I think he's been playing pretty inconsistent football for the past 3-4 games. I don't like him in pass coverage at all, but I don't really like any of our LBs in pass coverage. Wes was a statute and got caught looking in the backfield on the TD to their TE in the 2Q. Seems like there is always some confusion or coverage bust going on with the back side of the defense. But like others have said who do you replace them with?

I think it's a question of are the players thinking a little too much instead of reading the keys and flying to the ball. I did see in the gameday thread Coach Macho talk about how we stunted ourselves out of the fits on UL's first TD and we definitely did. Baron loops inside and the edge is wide a$$ open and he essentially has acres of space to just get outside. Sometimes we are our own worst enemy, just line up and play ball.

And the diving at ankles in space trying to tackle is such crap and laziness. Mario addressed that in his post game presser. That's going to get ironed out real quick.

Pruitt weighs 210lbs you can’t start him at MLb when our DT are already small.

Does Bobby know the defense and calls? It’s more to it when it comes to replacing your defensive captain and MlB.
Wait, they're making calls out there? Are you sure?

We're giving up like 38 points a game - at this point you could play anyone and not notice much of a difference.

I remember when everyone was praising him for being our best LB since Denzel. I still like him and don’t think he’s the problem

I would say Aguirre but the fact is, he's been playing. And he's not much of an improvement at this juncture.

This is a personnel problem. Nos faltamos los Jimmies y los Joes.

He was on the outside during the fake punt and lost leverage and couldn’t run to set the edge. It was super weak and it looks like he is dragging his leg. He isn’t a viable option to replace Kiko.

Doubt Bobby is mentally ready to take over calling the defense at MLB. That leaves Popo a true sophomore. That’s my point that ppl keep calling for less Kiko but there aren’t really any options.

If this fan base had a super power, it would the ability to convince itself that there are All-Americans littered all over the two-deep and that if we would just bench some of our starters, the next Dan Morgan would just magically appear.

I have no choice but to respect it.

Not getting a ton of production from other LBs. Although, I do think they need to play more...especially Popo. Alderman had some good plays against Louisville. Chase Smith, not a young player, but played ok in bursts earlier in the year.

This is a problem at LB and DB...the rotation is so slim. Who can emerge if they aren't playing?

I don't think it's a personnel problem I think it's a scheme issue. We haven't been bludgeoned to death by the run by any team because we can't hold up in the trenches or had any receivers dominate us throughout a game from a speed, strength department. The big plays that we give up are from a lack of communication on the back end or poor scheme. Ultimately though it's a teaching issue or lack thereof from the defensive coordinator and secondary coaches.

I think OP is overreacting. But I also think Kiko is being overplayed. Popo looked good out there, and gives Kiko a rest. Also, we could pull the MLB and play a striker like Chase Smith or Bobby Washington who are faster and plenty big enough. Just be a little more conservative on blitzes/stunts, and balance out the snaps more, and a lot of this goes away, IMHO.

Chase Smith was clueless on the fake punt and didn't set the edge. Bobby has played against FAMU and Ball State in mop up duty. Yall would kill them too once they made the mistakes they will most likely make.
