Not a good look in year 3 for an "elite" recruiter.
You won’t find a professional who works in CFB that wouldn’t call Mario and elite recruiter.

This cycle did not meet his expectations. But if this is the result with an elite recruiter…I assure you, you’d hate the see the results of whatever your supposed savior coach would do.

Welp I know there were constant arguing/debating regarding the recruiting fallout of being in the Big12 vs. SEC/BIG in the Conference Realignment Thread. I know @Rickd and @TheOriginalCane and @NC_Canes_11 and a few others were pounding the table about us needing to land in BIG while others were challenging them and championing the BIG 12's $$$ payout to us.

When 34/34 247 5* recruits signed with the SEC/BIG, I think it's pretty clear what the future holds for those not in either.
Agree as far as recruiting goes, but we can't even win the pathetic ACC, so how do you think we'll stack up in the BIG10 or SEC?? If we go to the BIG10, better have a clause that guarantees we never have to go above the Mason-Dixon line in November otherwise that's a sure Miami loss

The Big 12, as an option, is for morons who think that "private equity" money does not come with a cost.

Yes, just looking at the recruiting landscape/talent acquisition. Trust me, I didn't want to touch the coaching and development side of that equation because that's an entirely different discussion. No, I was simply speaking on what it will take just to field a decent/respectable recruiting class and team.

We signed the guys we wanted and have an opportunity to round out the class aggressively in the portal. Evaluations are still important and so is coaching.

We can sign a S, LB, and will undoubtedly sign CBs; a smaller class this cycle doesn't alter the big picture provided we can sign some real difference-makers in the portal.

We need elite starters on the OL and DL with quality depth. Looking forward to being a tougher and more disciplined football team next season.

Get a QB to elevate the team asap and let's get back to work.

Holy **** I didn’t realize just how bad the rest of the conference recruiting is. We’re the only school with double digit blue-chip commits.

Okay, still not good enough.

Obviously the tv contract is the most attractive thing, but when the talent gap is this wide and only getting worse, you get what happened this year. The P2 schools all ranked in preseason bc of their rosters and they “beat up” on each other. Whether they are good or not, the metrics are so heavily skewed in their favor it looks like they are. Then they make even more money when they make the playoff with 3 losses over whatever school from the other conferences.

This was the year to make our case for the P2. Cam and this offense drawing crazy viewership numbers. Finally win the ACC and win a game in the playoff. It was set up so perfectly and they choked it away.

Program is dead this season proves it. We had the best offense in the country and still can’t win anything. Next year is gonna suck.

Wait so no we’re bytching about the best recruiting class in the ACC…just trying to keep up.
Woo hoo #1 in ACC BUT #15 in the country...and we still can't win the ACC. But hey, if you're happy with these results good for you

When media and CFP committee members continually hype up those conferences, especially the SEC, that bias ends up in the recruits heads too. A trash program like Mizzou was touted as a top program preseason, and still kept being undeservedly ranked late in the season for no reason other than their affiliation. Meanwhile, Syracuse and Duke were kept out
That way the rest of sec gets credit for quality win v “ranked” opponent

ESPN is DRIVING the entire thing make no mistake

I hope we dont fall on our face in the portal.

same group of coaches that looked at our DB room and said, “Nah, we good.”

So… expect one elite player (hopefully QB) that we spend all the money on and then silence. I am fine with that as long as we get the elite QB.

holy **** I haven’t followed all day, did we seriously get zero top 50 recruits and only one top 100 recruit?

Is there some wet ink somewhere that is going to blow its way onto a Miami nli later?

Perception matters more than results at this point.

The ACC can mollywhop the SEC/Big 10 head to head in every game for the next ten years.

It won't mean a **** thing.
I agree, it’s going to take as long as we have been getting mollywhopped on the field and in the draft by those conferences. And it’s more than 10 years.
