He co signed the defense, lost both safeties and didnt do anything to bring talent in from portal. We really watched #7 be completely oblivious to safety play and do whatever the **** he wants and never get benched to never play again. Dude was ******* up from game 1 to last game. How do you go all in with QB and then just let both safeties walk with no plan and say Jaden got us! :snoopfacepalm: The whole defense was confused. We playing 10 players, 12 players, cant line up, cant set an edge, simple jet sweeps killing us..
I mean...
Do you think he thought the defense would be this bad? Nobody did. And he can't fire his DC mid-season. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If you want to blame him for not doing more due diligence before the hire then that's fine.

Harris ain't the problem. He's lost like everybody else on the back-7 is. Patterson is a 5-star and the most talented guy in the secondary and he looks terrible too.

Crazy thing is...

As much as everybody is beating on Mario right now...

He was a functional defense away from being our lord and savior. If he has even a decent defense this season, we're at worst a 1-loss team. (offense struggled in the one game where we actually played some defense)

THIS was the year to make waves. Generational QB, best offense in school history and a weak schedule. 🤷🏻‍♂️

This 2024 defense has changed the entire perception of Mario's Miami tenure... and may have changed the trajectory of this program. I would imagine that's GOTTA be understood within the building. And knowing how much of a savage Mario can be, I'd be shocked if the defensive staff survives this.
And my issue with Mario is that he is so slow to fix the problems. A change had to be made with the defense. Week in and week out we could not handle a simple motion. Heck we got out formationed in the UF game on their long touchdown.

And there was zero change to the scheme or the coordinator. I think he can fire/demote a DC mid season, what was the risk? Why wait to do the inevitable.

Martinez is a stud. But I remember halfway through the season, I had to defend the decision to keep starting him. “The coaches are burying our most explosive back. Stop this narrative to defend bad Portal evaluations!”

The reason I’m hesitant to spend big on a back is because we need to spend money elsewhere. Lyle and Fletcher are gifted, Top 10 recruits who would make big money if they hit the Portal. There are other positions that need much more work.

You likely had to defend Martinez against many of the same people unwilling to see the gap between Martinez and Fletcher/Lyle… I like Fletcher and Lyle and understand the fiscal dynamic - but because they are South Florida backs that we beat OSU for in recruiting our fans tend to see something that is not always there.

What I want to see from a back we stole from OSU, a back that looks like OSU backs looked against Tennessee. **** Ohio State, but I want our Ohio State backs to play like Ohio State backs - legit, RB1s

I am a tad unforgiving about the financial piece, because if our elite roster builder was the elite roster builder he’s been propped up to be, there would not be so many holes to fill entering year 4.

there really isn’t a lot of holes besides Qb and DB. Now the evaluations and development can definitely be brought into question

Been saying for awhile we need a whole DB depth chart. For some reason position is undervalued and neglected. I dont understand how they see these guys everyday and were fine going into season with this
This is my biggest problem and I put it all on the coaches. The players aren’t going to bench themselves.

A skill I need coaches to have is the ability to run their practices like a game in order to see which players have it or not. If they did, they could’ve gotten a G5 safety in the fall that would’ve played better than Harris.

I need your system to be able to be understood and run correctly at least by the ******* bowl game.

Clearly there’s something seriously wrong with how Mario evaluates players (throw in coaches too) in his top secret practices.

Why couldn’t he fire him? Saban fired Kiffen. Coordinators get fired all the time. It literally could not get worse.

Mario is analysis by paralysis so we won’t know anything until days before spring practice or the **** game smh

Quarterman was an above average LB, Pickney was down right terrible. He made a few plays, but was always out of position and missed way to many plays.

If I’m remembering correctly 7 looked ok in place of kitchens last year when he was out. So maybe they believed in him but boy were they wrong also it’s just so crazy how bad the defense was this year just playing Cover 1 like 80% of the time it looked like lol. I’m not an X &O expert just what I thought I saw

What? Worse under Manny? Marios teams are on par with Manny's. And under Mario, it's gotten worse by each year as he has gotten all his own players and had time to change the "culture."

Difference is Manny never tried to be a fake tough guy. Mario's fake discipline and so called culture is a joke.

PENALTY YARDS PER GAME

2024: 106th

Hypothetically, if Mario wins 5-6 games next season. Does he get fired? I’m going to say no wanted to hear other thoughts.

Not just no, but

You have to keep in mind who runs the university and the athletic department. They don’t evaluate stuff like fans. Mario is a national champion alum with Saban pedigree that just bagged us our second 10-win season in 20 years. Fans don’t run this thing, dorky admins do. I keep saying this but he’s one more 10 win season away from the lifetime ticket.

we didnt improve from mannys last year to Marios first year. it was a step back that they sold to you as a WIP.

they got back to level last year from what Manny left behind.

they improved this year bc of Cam. thats it. the Defense was worse than Doritos ****.

the OL is the only area of the team that has improved since Mario took over.
10000000%

Thats why it was dumb to compare the improvements on offense last year to gattis like no **** we improved after our worst offense ever lmao

Mario 2nd year should be compared to mannys last year here not his first . Thats how u measure the improvements, he came in and unnecessarily completely changed the offense to a totally different style

And u know he knew it was wrong because he fired gattis and hired someone more similar to lashlee like dawson

And some of the talent everyone downplayed the first year actually proved to some good players that had key roles in our team this year and smu team and we missed some of the guys that left to the nfl.

Imagine if he actually came in and just elevated what we already had and added more talent on top of it like we thought he would....Our trajectory would be much higher than it seems now but this is how a coach operates when he has zero fear of being on the hot seat because the people with money is in his pocket

Maybe it’s trying to duplicate the past vs being the future…

Coker - Miami
Randy - Miami
Golden - Not Miami - NCAA investigation
Richt - Miami
Manny - Miami
Mario - Miami

Maybe, just maybe we are our own problem. Zero success from Miami guys.

Baseball:
- Gino - Miami
- JD - Miami

👀
This is why i hate when people say oh the program is cursed and all that stupid ****..NO THE PROGRAM IS RAN BY STUPID NON FOOTBALL PEOPLE

Its like they have a list of miami coaches and just check go to the next one every time we need a new one

Even with mario, people on here and other places were literally saying mid season they have contacted mario and said we will give you whatever you want. Like bro u dont think its finally time to do a real coaching search of non miami guys after the last 20 years?????

The guy in charge who i think is now the president was on a podcast and literally said he was locked in on rad and mario right away. Im listening like bro what??? Have we not learned?? Thank god mario is at least proven and has been at successful programs before here

But the biggest red flag was basically the talk that the boosters seem to be only fully invested if its mario thats why people look at him as some savior. But it means they really dont care about the football program they only want it to be successful if its done their way. We just gotta pray mario is good enough to get us back to at least a good respectable program and gives them a proof of concept to actually take **** serious so we can keep it up after him

Emory also looked frantically. Hands on helmet like no way to hear the coaches. He then waives his hands around like the play had never been even mentioned to the players and he wqs out of time.

He then gets ball and seemed to be aiming low for the D-line. Connecting with linemen several times.

Did he not know her was going in? It was nuts to see Cam just standing there. He needed to come back in for one more drive late.
