First page of searching "Mario portal" (see below).

I understand you may want to limit this discussion to some kind of "but it's valid to say it's moving slowly in the spring portal" critique, but that would only be relevant if Miami was some sort of bizarre outlier, the only school in the country with no April Portal verbals yet.

But a couple of days ago (pre-Jaden-Davis), I posted the Top 26 Portal classes on 247. The TWO positive outliers were Colorado and Louisville. Of the other 24 top portal classes (clearly based on January transfer enrollees), 11 universities had NOT GOTTEN A SINGLE COMMIT YET. Most schools had either 1 or 2 April Portal period verbals.

So, again, Miami is not an outlier. We are right there in the mix of 24 other schools that had great January Portal classes, but have not yet brought in more than 2 April Portal verbals.

And I think you'd agree, we had a good Portal effort in 2022 (#12 Portal class, even if our ****** coaching could have been better) and we are currently sitting on the #15 Portal class for 2023, with only one Spring Portal verbal thus far. So we've had 1.5 years of good results in the Portal under Mario, and 3 weeks that are similar to what most other schools that have top-ranked Portal classes are encountering. Spring Portal gets a grade of "Incomplete".

But the negative narrative keeps being pushed.

Lmao, it's a ******* joke. I've posted plenty of dumb **** you could quote but this isn't one of them.

I also think Dawson will get a lot more out of what we have at WR. We could use help at WR but we’re building the trenches first by necessity anyhow. As I’ve said, I’d try Robbie and Ray Ray on the outside.

Assuming a healthy TVD, I think CY will continue to ascend. Restrepo will be reliable and play with toughness and edge. If Jacolby puts it all together mentally, he could breakout in this offense, too. If not now, when?

Brashard needs to show consistency. Horton could develop into something, but not sure he can be counted on just yet. Appreciate their work for the U, but Ladson and Redding are just bodies.

With the TFs, I am not sure Robbie is ready yet, but Ray Ray looks the part and is hopefully ready to contribute.

I do expect improvement from some of these WRs, but even with a big bump from Dawson (and subtracting Gattis) and assuming a healthy TVD, I think we need one more legit talent on the outside. Even if they all take a leap, that unit is still one injury to anoutside WR from misery.

There are no Jordan Addisons hitting the portal without a **** ton of money in the works......and there's no reason for most teams to break the bank for 1 kid if the rest of the roster isn't ready to compete......which is why any kid like that, as you said, would not be in the portal without already knowing where they are going with an NIL already written up. USC has been backing the Brinks truck up for everyone to get that buzz going in LA and for this to be the year they compete.
Facts. Addison was going to SC

The hyper-polarization here is nothing new and, unfortunately, it results in most threads being derailed into ego-driven, insult-laden ****ing contests between those cemented on polar opposite sides of the spectrum. ****, I contributed to that as much as anyone as a “mope” during the last few years of Golden’s tenure while a dwindling but vocal contingent of posters vehemently defended him against any and all criticism until the bitter end.

No one should have a problem with posters who praise the positives but also raise valid concerns regarding QB, WR, and CB recruiting. When some of us questioned or criticized the Gattis hire last year, some posters reacted with their usual belligerent condescension. We all saw how that turned out. This board shouldn't be an echo chamber of groupthink where anyone who steps out of line is mocked, especially since some of the same people who loudly and arrogantly crapped on others for opposing the likes of Golden, Diaz, and Gattis never admit they were wrong while having the audacity to continue claiming everyone else is an idiot.

I fully understand those wanting to put the last 20 years as a Miami fan behind them and trust Cristobal's process. Negativity is exhausting and this is a full-blown rebuild. Mario will have plenty of time to try to turn this thing around from instilling a new culture to landing as much premier talent as possible, which are his greatest skills. I assume most would agree he’s not a coach who provides a schematic advantage on gamedays nor does he do more with less, so it's gonna require patience.

Hopefully, we have a great weekend and land some studs. I guarantee we won't see any more criticism of WR recruiting if we start landing guys like Ryan Wingo and Drelon Miller.
Nobody criticizing Golden in his final 2 years should be considered a mope!! I had a nagging feeling after his first game .. the loss to underdog Maryland with their new head coach (the guy who had been at UCONN). Never forget where I was when it was announced ... at Philadelphia Airport changing flights on a Sunday on the way back to Miami. Was a VERY HAPPY flight.

That’s also not factoring in if either Ladson (doubtful) or Redding graduate this semester and hit the portal afterwards.
