I’ve been saying the same. We won’t know until it plays out. But we also don’t know now if their evaluations are **** so it’s fruitless to even argue back and forth on it until we see results.

Same can be said for “what does Jason Taylor NOT know?” Just because he’s green as an on field coach doesn’t not = the inability to scout talent.

It’s fine to be skeptical but downright criticism is unwarranted until results are shown on the field.

I agree for the most part, and think the “but Jason Taylor loves him” takes could be seen as more of the fluff over substance…

I think we should all argue on the fruitless of the argument instead…😎

Fair. Probably should’ve just left that out to not sound like a sunshine pumper.

Welcome to The U! Kid is 6'1 270. Jerome Brown was 6'2 290. Let's see if he can grown a bit his Sr. year and hopefully into the same legendary status as JB. :-) Give me a Dade County kid with a high motor and strong work ethic and I'll take him all day!

People don’t want to fall into the same excuse making traps as we have over and over again

I think we all know it “should” be different this time around but we felt that way going into the season as well and were rewarded with the worst on field product I’ve ever seen

So I think people want to be optimistic but running around saying “show me” is also kinda boring 😎

Agreed. I think we’ve been so burnt that it’ll take actions on game days. We’ve all heard from even those with the best information in the past and the reality it was our O against our D so you couldn’t tell much in reality…

Like I’m hearing good things from the coaches, they’re excited… easy response: DJ Ivey approves that message 😈

In the meantime we take everything with a grain of salt and sharpen the pitch forks just in case 😎

I agree with people that have said after December we will know a lot more about what’s going on

Not just for recruiting but for the team. I don’t expect 10 wins and a miracle turnaround but we will be able to tell if we are headed the right direction

Again, I think most of us view Judd’s commitment the same way we view Russell’s. I don’t have a problem with our staff taking a chance on Russell if he were our 5th DT in this class and we landed dudes like Stone, Scott, Franklin etc. in front of him. Similarly, if we are planning on taking two QB’s in this class and we’re able to land a blue chip QB and take Judd as our #2 in this class then folks wouldn’t be as concerned. Just for fun, I was looking at QB commitments earlier and as of right now Indiana, Vanderbilt, Kansas, Cal, and Purdue all have higher ranked QB’s committed than us. I get it...our offense was atrocious last year, but we have a new OC and we’re still The U and you’re telling me this is the best we could get? I like Judd’s attitude and he’s been a great ambassador for this class but Zo/Dawson/Mario are obviously seeing something nobody else in the industry is.
I have no clue what DT is gonna look like but we absolutely are taking two QBs this class. One is a portal.

Russell was in a podcast a couple days back and said he was 6-2.5 and 265.Looked nothing like a DE,DT all the way.

What’s that’s got to do with all the 3 stars? I want 5 stars but keep reaching.

Let's say we end with a class of 28 undergrads. If we have 3 5 stars, 12 4 stars and 13 3 stars, is that a bad class on paper? I personally don't think so.

I know the rub is in whether or not the evals are good, and that the odds of a 3 star being a high performer in top P5 programs are much lower than the odds of Top 150 kids being high P5 performers. I also get that many fans question the track records of Mario and Zo in being able to find diamonds in the rough.

But it is irrefutable that we have a better eval process than at least since Butch. It is also irrefutable that early indications from the 2022 and 2023 class are promising when it comes to identifying 3-stars who look promising to become quality contributors (Cooper, Moten, McCoy, Colby, Bobby, Kinsler, Ajay Allen, Lou Cristobal ... j/k on the last one lol).

Finally, I'm not a fan of "package deals". But there is nothing wrong with saying Ryan Mack or Daylan Russell are believed to be future key contributors AND are high value targets (HVTs) because of their strategic value to the class and program.

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time.

- Took Michael Kidd-Gilchrist over Bradley Beal, Damian Lillard and Andre Drummond
- Took Noah Vonleh over Zach LaVine
- Took Frank Kaminsky over Devin Booker and Myles Turner
- Took Malik Monk over Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, John Collins, Jarrett Allen, OG Anunoby, Kyle Kuzma and Josh Hart
- Traded Shai Gilgeous-Alexander's trade rights for Miles Bridges
- Drafted James Bouknight over Chris Duarte and Alperen Sengun
- Drafted Brandon Miller over Scoot Henderson (already looking like a terrible pick)

I think Russell has potential but "JASON TAYLOR LIKES HIM!!1!!!11!!!1" means nothing lol. The best players are usually the worst coaches & talent evaluators.

Yoo I think MJ has been a ****** owner but if you think he was the scouting the draft picks and not on a golf course or casino somewhere I don’t want to tell you.

Now did he hire the GMs and basketball Ops people that made those picks? Yup and he should take heat for that.

And for the Scoot pick, he has already sold the team (but not formally approved) and I’m pretty sure the new owner signed off on it.

I don't know if they are usually the worst coaches (not going to argue either way on that), but people fawning over a coach b/c they were a hall of fame player... Look at many of the top coaches, how many of them were great players? Saban? Kirby? Butch didn't even play past his freshman year of college (granted he was injured). Meanwhile someone like Warren Sapp is in the HoF (deservedly), but how many people really think he would make a good coach?

Now that is not to speak ill of Jason Taylor (I have no idea if he is a good coach or not) and being a hall of famer certainly doesn't hurt but I think it is funny when someone says (for any coach that is in the Hall of Fame) 'how could you not want to be coached by a Hall of Famer?'
