CJ will kill it somewhere else and people will complain while we possibly have nfl backs
I’m not even saying he’ll be a superstar , maybe more of a Jeff Demps type but I still don’t get why you bring a guy like this and not put him in the best position to succeed. It’s like we bring guys and just stash them. Rather than having a plan. I’ve heard so many recruiting stories where guys committed places because the coaches showed them all the packages and ways the staff would use them. Not every guy has the same skill sets at other players at their positions. These coaches make this **** way too hard at times.

Tyler Warren is another one. Look how he was used at Penn State. He’d line up at te, hb, slot , out wide and wild cat qb . That’s identifying a guys skill set and taking advantage of it. He did everything but snap the ball on their offense. I should make clear I’M NOT COMPARING CJ TO WARREN lol

Lofton has that skill set.

Dude is going to go ball somewhere else with a more creative OC

I think this kid has been over hyped since day 1 because of speed. He is a straight line runner and football isn’t played in a straight line. Even in hs all he did was bounce everything to the outside. His best position is probably wr tbh but we will see what happens with him going forward

1000%.

Savion Williams at TCU, a threat to house the ball on every play. 6’5’’ 225 lbs. Guess what they did - they lined him up in the backfield and ensured he got 15+ touches a game. Wildcat, pitches, reverses, motioned him out back wide so they could get a LB or undersized safety on him…Sonny Dykes still knows how to use his toys properly.

RJ Maryland at SMU before he got hurt. Concepcion (more so last year); just simply moving your best player all around the field trying to locate mismatches.

Speed doesn't do anything sitting on the bench. Dawson failed to get him meaningful touches...he'll go to SMU and kill it like Breshard Smith did this year

everything in his hs tape was running in a straight line. he didnt look good to me in our spring game. I wish him the best. just dont see it with this one. brashard showed flashes from the moment he stepped on the field.

Why’d Mario recruit him? I mean it sounds like an easy evaluation since he’s just straight line speed ? People also said Brashard was overrated by fans when he left . Let me say I never loved the kid but once again he could’ve been a good gimmick piece. He’s a bigger Demps and Urban found ways to get him in space to use track speed.

I was saying even last year that they should move brashard to rb especially when there was a lot of injuries and we had no explosiveness from the position

I think sometimes you just have to much and you try and get everyone touches and you just can’t. Some guys need a flow of touches and he wasn’t going to get any with the backfield doing well. If Lyle got a 10 yard run that was it we were feeding the hot hand. And when CJ touched it it’s basically a couple yards, so eventually he got it less and less. Have to make plays sometimes whenever you get it and when you don’t and someone else does you will get buried on the depth chart.

I hope so but I don’t see it yet he’s too little and would get tackled with ease. He looks 2 years away still
He’s not a between the tackles runner he never will be his frame is way to small (pause). I think it’s best he goes to a lesser program with not a lot of weapons. So he can get the majority of touches and get a flow going. SMU maybe ?

Did he even touch the ball 10 times on offense this year ? How many plays put his speed in position to win? Outside runs ? Wheel routes ? Reverses ?
While I agree, the fact is we just had the best offense in the country by almost any metric, and he had 3 Guys ahead of him at his position that were straight up better actual runners, and like if you want to use him as a pass weapon out of the backfield we have 4 very good WRs and a very good TE... So like I agree we COULD HAVE used him more and better, but at the end of the day you can't expect perfection, and when we're sitting here complaining about the #1 offense in the country, it gets a little facepalm-y.

Sometimes **** just doesn't work out. At the end of the day next year we have Lyle and Fletcher. If he didn't want to compete with Pringle for that 3rd in the pecking order, it is what it is. We'll be fine at Rb. I think we may need to end up getting a portal RB only cause we probaly lose Allen too, leaving us with just 4 on the roster, but it's not at all a priority imo.

if I’m the coaches I recruit Ajay to stay . Use him on kickoff and sell him on more touches. That gives us five backs which is a must . Then you have Lofton as a power back option to use situationally. That should set the rotation up.
I agree. We need to keep one of Ajay or CJjr. Fletcher should NOT get any more carries than he already got this year. In fact he should get less. Lyle should take over for Martinez's touches. There is quite a bit available.

Tbh ii’m more of an Ajay guy. Every time he touches the ball it feels like it could be the one. Not a great pass blocker but he’s dynamite in the backfield. There’s games the rb’s would be struggling and he’d come in and add a spark. CJ I can somewhat get but Ajay is a head scratcher by the staff. You can find him ten touches a game via return game and offense.
